Kyabram Regional Clinic

Kyabram Regional Clinic Kyabram Regional Clinic, community and family orientated medical clinic. Supporting Kyabram Hospital We provide 24-hour cover for our patients.

Kyabram Regional Clinic was established approximately 40 years ago in Union Street with one GP. There have been several moves and renovations over the past years to accommodate a growing practice, until finally reaching our current location at 98 Fenaughty St, Kyabram. Our practice consists of 6 full-time GP’s and 4 part time GP’s. Administration staff consists of 4 full-time and 7 part-time receptionists. Our nursing department has 1 full-time and 3 part-time practice nurses. This is a busy rural general practice in which all GP’s do procedural work and we have a big local hospital commitment. We have two satellite clinics in the surrounding towns of Tongala and Stanhope. Patients are able to mark appointments for Tongala through our clinic or at Tongala when it is open. The Stanhope clinic is part of the Community Health Centre; Kyabram staff will make appointments for Stanhope.

SOCIAL MEDIA BAN UNDER 16s

🧑‍👧 Support & resources — you’re not alone

If you, your child or someone you care for feels confused, anxious or lost because of these changes — you’re not alone, and support is out there.

✅ Official resources & helplines: many are unaffected by the ban and still available.
✅ Healthy alternatives: encourage offline friendship, physical activity, creative hobbies, regular sleep. Small habits make a big difference.
✅ Reach out: as a local clinic, we offer guidance, mental-health chat, referrals if needed.

Let’s work together to support our young people through this change — with understanding, care and open communication.

From 10 December 2025, many social media platforms won’t be allowed to let Australians under 16 have accounts.

SOCIAL MEDIA BAN UNDER 16s

⚠️ What to watch out for — how to navigate the change

With this big shift, there are important things for families to know:

Under-16s may lose access to accounts — encourage them to save important data (contacts, photos) before December 10.

Not all online services are banned. Messaging apps, online-gaming platforms, and certain educational or support services remain available.

Even if social media is limited, young people still need connection — through family, friends, hobbies, in-person socialising.

If you notice signs of distress: withdrawal, mood changes, sleep issues — these could hint that the change is affecting them emotionally. We are here to help.

Tip for parents & carers: Use this as an opportunity to talk with your child — not just about limiting screen time, but about replacing it with meaningful, healthy connection.

From 10 December 2025, many social media platforms won’t be allowed to let Australians under 16 have accounts.

SOCIAL MEDIA BAN UNDER 16s

🤝 It’s not all black & white — social media has pros too

We recognise that social media isn’t always harmful. For many young people — especially those who may feel isolated or different — online spaces can provide connection, peer support, identity expression, community, and a sense of belonging.

The goal of the new age-restriction laws isn’t to stigmatise social media — but to protect under-16s from design features that can exploit young users who aren’t yet equipped to navigate them.

As a clinic, we encourage balanced, thoughtful discussion within families:

What social media offers (connection, friendship, learning, self-expression)

What the risks are (overuse, mental health stress, sleep or privacy issues)

How to find safe, healthy alternatives (offline hobbies, face-to-face connection, creative outlets).

From 10 December 2025, many social media platforms won’t be allowed to let Australians under 16 have accounts.

🧠 Why it matters: health & wellbeing risks

Did you know that excessive screen time and social media use in adolescents is linked with higher risks of anxiety, depression, behavioural problems — especially when sleep, routine and physical activity are disrupted?

The new rules aim to give young people extra time to develop social, emotional and digital skills before diving into social media.

As a health-care provider, we see how important it is to balance online time with real life — good sleep, outdoor activity, hobbies, face-to-face connection.

👉 If you’re a parent: notice if your teen’s mood, sleep, school or social life seems off.
👉 If you’re a teen: talk if you’re feeling stressed, anxious, isolated — you’re not alone, and support is available.

The Australian Government is engaging with young people on the issues that matter most to them.

What Is Asthma?

Asthma is a serious and long-term condition that affects 1 in 9 Australians. Sadly, more than 400 Australians die of asthma each year.
There is currently no cure, but in most cases asthma can be well managed and people with asthma can live a full life.

SOCIAL MEDIA BAN FOR UNDER 16s

📣 What’s changing (and when)

Important news for families & teens
From 10 December 2025, new Australian laws mean many popular social media platforms will no longer allow account access to under-16s.

What does this mean:
If your child is under 16, their account may be deactivated.

Platforms must take “reasonable steps” to prevent under-16s from having accounts — but the enforcement is with the platforms, not families.

This change aims to help protect young people from harmful online content and reduce the risks linked to excessive social media use.

From 10 December 2025, many social media platforms won’t be allowed to let Australians under 16 have accounts.
