One of the several health campaigns running throughout November in Australia is Lung Cancer Awareness Month. As the 5th most commonly diagnosed cancer in the country, more than 15,000 Australians are affected every year (Peter MacCallum Cancer Foundation).

This month, our Sydney Head Office hosted a Pink Morning Tea in recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. It was a wonderful opportunity for our team to embrace the pink theme, spend time together, and show support for those affected by breast cancer.

We are proud to recognise Dr Stuart Collins and the team at Ramsay Health Care, Noosa Private Hospital for completing 50 NanoKnife Focal IRE (Irreversible Electroporation) prostate cases since introducing the technology in August 2024.

Focal IRE is an advanced, minimally invasive therapy that uses targeted, controlled electrical pulses to ablate prostate tissue while aiming to preserve surrounding structures.

This milestone reflects not only Dr Collins’ clinical expertise, guided early on by A/Prof John Yaxley, but also the dedication of the multidisciplinary team in expanding access to innovative treatment options.

A Milestone in Vascular Malformation Education

Getz Healthcare, in collaboration with IGEA S.p.A., proudly hosted the first Vascular Malformation Electrosclerotherapy Masterclass held outside Europe, alongside the SPIR 2025 Conference in Sydney.

This milestone event brought together 26 leading Peadiatric Interventional Radiologists and Vascular Interventional Radiology consultants from across Australia, New Zealand, and Asia to explore advancements in the use of the IGEA Cliniporator® VITAE, a nonthermal and minimally invasive technology for treating complex vascular malformations.

The program featured a dinner presentation by Premal Patel (Great Ormond Street Hospital and Charity), London) and Dr Martin Krauss (Health NZ – Waitaha Canterbury, Christchurch Hospital, New Zealand), followed by a full-day clinical workshop at Sydney Children's Hospitals Network, Westmead Children's Hospital led by Dr S Murthy Chennapragada FRANZCR FSIR. Participants engaged in multidisciplinary case discussions and live clinical observations, sharing insights and best practices in this evolving field.

Our Getz Healthcare team were pleased to engage with professionals at the SPIR International Meeting 2025 in Sydney last week.

The Cliniporator VITAE from IGEA S.p.A. was a key focus, offering a nonthermal, minimally invasive approach for vascular malformations and deep seated skeletal lesions. This targeted technology is designed to provide clinicians with an additional option within interventional oncology and vascular applications.
