Groin injuries often occur during twisting, turning, or sudden changes of direction - and because the groin contains multiple muscles and structures, every groin injury is different.
The most common cause is an adductor muscle strain, typically from overstretching during quick movement.
But resting until the pain settles isn’t enough. If the underlying issue isn’t addressed, recurrent strains are common.
Predisposing factors include:
• Inadequate rehab after the first injury
• Stiffness in the lower back
• Poor pelvic stability
• Muscle imbalances
Physiotherapy can help identify and treat the cause of the strain - not just the symptoms - to reduce recurrence and restore safe movement.
