I am in CONSTANT awe of the intelligence of the body, and the way it speaks to us.

When I first became a clinical nutritionist and functional medicine practitioner, I became obsessed with how symptoms can give us clues about imbalances in the body.

Salt cravings - perhaps there is adrenal fatigue.

Bloating with healthy foods like onions, watermelon and mushrooms - perhaps there is SIBO.

Waking up between 2am - 4am - perhaps there are detoxification issues.

I still love connecting the dots with clients, connecting their symptoms to body system imbalances, and confirming those with labs.

But in my own healing journey and professional evolution into a holistic, trauma-informed body-mind coach, I have become even more in awe of how these symptoms have even deeper messages, trying to get our attention.

For example, I had a client recently whose back pain was less about a “structural” issue, and more to do with her not fully backing herself and her self-care - the things she *knew* would make all the difference.

Another client had terrible throat pain after financial stress. Yes, it was the stress that triggered the physiology to inflame - but deeper than that, the throat pain represented a protective part of her, trying to protect her from losing her home again (she lost her home at 10yo, and now as an adult the fear showed up in her throat - we knew this, because when we did some somatic memory reprocessing, the throat pain disappeared immediately).

I’ve also seen chronic health issues disappear - like lifelong constipation, severe histamine intolerance, and anxiety - when clients have listened to the messages from their body, and done the work to create safety.

This stuff works!! When you learn to art of listening to and following the signals from your body.

What you wrote about “nothing was broken” and just needing to reprogram what you’d been conditioned to believe… YES. That’s the heart of it. Because so many high-achievers come to us thinking their body is failing them, when really their body has been carrying too much for too long - and it’s been doing its best to keep them safe.

I also love that you highlighted the *whole* approach: the testing (hello depleted neurotransmitters!), the personalised lab-based supplements, and then the deeper root-cause work — beliefs, patterns, identity. That’s where things truly click and the transformation becomes sustainable, not just a temporary symptom shift.

Gah, so happy we were able to catch up in person for a cuddle on some food! I used to be the woman who was always “on”. Doing all the things, going harder, carrying the load for everyone, never stopping for fear my world (work, family, finances, etc) would collapse down around me.

For a long time I over-rode my body’s signals - the ones that were telling me to stop, slow down, soften, trust the process of life. Until one day, I couldn’t. I became literally bed-ridden with exhaustion, body pain and anxiety.

It was my birthday yesterday! I turned 42 years old, and can I say - I am LOVING getting older! I had a Connect The Dots...

It was my birthday yesterday! I turned 42 years old, and can I say - I am LOVING getting older! I had a Connect The Dots initial consult with a lovely lady this week, who is struggling with body burnout symptoms, and she said (like many others have said): “isn’t this just to be expected as you get older?” And I emphatically said: “No! In fact, I feel the BEST I have ever felt at 42 years old, even compared to being in my 20’s”. And I mean this in how I feel in ALL parts of my bodies (the physical, emotional, mental, spiritual and energetic parts of me).

I gave my self permission yesterday to play on my birthday (because, well, I really love me & wanted to celebrate me!!) - I went scooting with my kids in the morning, had a delicious lunch (free of restrictions!) at a local vineyard (how cool is the bike table in this pic!!), went and read a book on the beach followed by a quick icy dip in the ocean (it was the first time in my 42 years that is was warm enough to sunbake on the beach in Tassie in May!), and finished off the day rehearsing for a Sunshine on Leith, musical production that Chris & I are performing in this May with the . I love my life & the health I have to enjoy it - and it didn’t happen by chance. It was all part of the deep healing work I have done for myself - and that we continue to support our clients in.

He breaks it down in such a practical way: mindfulness can be as simple as doing one minute of full attention (even just listening properly), emotional literacy can start with a Feelings Wheel + a “two-word check-in”, and gratitude can be trained by noticing good moments *as they happen* (“this is a good moment”) or using prompts so you’re not staring at a blank page. ✨

In today's workshop, we'll help our amazing clients explore "Your Game" (lesson & Outlet in Spark), through the "map" they have been living out of. We all live our life through an unintentionally created map, based on your upbringing, cultural and ancestral conditioning, unconscious programming and belief-systems. 🧠

This map is initially designed to keep you "safe". It dictates what's right and what's wrong, and how you should think, feel and behave. The problem is, when you grow up to become an adult, most adults continue living out of a childish map, which causes all sorts of dysfunctions - including body burnout.

During the workshop, we'll help our clients unpack and deconstruct their "map", so they can create a better map/game to help them get more of what they want.
