Healing doesn’t just come from protocols.
It comes from your state.

Our client Sally is evidence of that.
For 9 years, Sally tried to heal eczema, chronic fatigue, low immunity (getting sick all the time), mood imbalances and an anxious brain that never switched off - doing ALL the “physical” things (labs, supps, diets, sleep hygiene, hormone cycling). She worked with 5 naturopaths and 3 doctors… and still nothing budged. Not because she wasn’t trying hard enough, but because deep down she was fighting with herself, and her system was stuck in distress.

Healing old shame and “not enough” beliefs isn’t just about positive thinking—it’s about doing the deeper work.

One of my favourite tools for this is the AURA process: Awareness, Understanding, Reframing, and Apology to self. It’s simple but honestly, it’s a game changer.

👀 First, notice the old stories and patterns running the show (that’s Awareness). Then, dig a little deeper to really understand where those beliefs came from and why they show up (Understanding).

Next, flip the script—reframe those thoughts with something more true and kind, like “I make mistakes, but I’m not a mistake” (Reframing).

And finally, offer yourself an apology for all the times you’ve been harsh or held onto old shame (Apology). This is how you start to break free from the past and step into real self-acceptance. 💞

I used to get super triggered too by “negative” comments.
I’d see a notification pop up and feel that spike in my chest — what if it’s a nasty comment? What if someone disagrees with me? What if someone things I don’t “know” what I’m talking about, or that I’m “bad”?
And suddenly I’d be bracing… heart racing… mind rehearsing what I’d say back… or wanting to delete the post and disappear.

Recently I’ve had some people leave “angry” comments on some of my posts (swipe the graphics above to see what about).
And I’ve watched myself curiously, remain calm, even empathetic to those who have been swearing at me.

Because I know the way I used to react in the past, and they way that these people are reacting now to me speaking my truth…Isn’t because of being “too sensitive”.
It is a dysregulated brain-body system reading disagreement or difference as unsafe.

Because when your system is dysregulated (which is so common in those experiencing body burnout), a different opinion doesn’t land as “interesting” or “something to consider” or “I choose to disagree respectfully”… it lands as a threat.

At a subconscious level, disagreement can feel like rejection, humiliation, abandonment, being “in trouble”, being belittled, or losing belonging. And that wiring usually comes from early programming — the experiences that taught your system what was safe.

If you grew up with criticism, you might’ve learned: being wrong = danger.
If love felt conditional, you learned: approval = safety.
If conflict felt intense, unpredictable, or shut down, you learned: disagreement = threat — avoid it, fight it, freeze, or people-please.

So now, online (and in real life), we don’t just disagree… we react. We dismiss. We cancel. We shut down. We hide.
And honestly, it is making us sick!! Not just in our minds, but physically in our bodies. This threat is causing physical inflammation and symptoms.

So how do we change it? Not by “being louder”. Not by arguing harder.
We change it by creating safety deep in our body and mind first — because a regulated mind-body can hold nuance.

A few starting points:
Name it: “My system is reading this as danger.”
Regulate first: slow your breath, drop your shoulders, unclench your jaw, feel your feet (90 seconds can change everything).
Separate opinion from identity: disagreement isn’t a verdict on your worth.
Rewire the rule: “I can be disagreed with and still be safe.”

We don’t just work on health issues in the Ending Body Burnout Method, but the deeper patterns and fears that are driving the health issues in the first place.

This is a "bottom-up" tool to dial down the alarm around symptoms (i.e. fatigue, body pain, gut discomfort, anxiety) and loosen the identity wiring that says this symptom is me or I am flawed in some way.

Yep. This used to be my life.

One minute I was working frantically in my business (or cooking up a storm at home or DIY-ing all our low-tox cleaning & skincare products like it was an emergency)…

Next minute I was down at the beach with my kids — but still not actually there.
Because even when my body was “resting”… my nervous system was on duty.

Like I was being torn in two: one part desperate to be present, and another part pulling me back to work-work-work, as if the world would fall apart if I didn’t.

I felt like it was a “personality flaw”. But I soon realised it was a combo of imbalanced biology + unconscious programming.

When you’re in body burnout, your brain is often running on a threat loop:

🧠 From a Neuroscience perspective: an over-stressed, inflamed brain-body system can get stuck in hypervigilance (always scanning for what’s next). Stillness feels unsafe, so your system creates more-more-more things to do.

⚡️ From a Stress chemistry perspective: cortisol/adrenaline patterns can make “rest” feel agitating instead of soothing — so you reach for productivity to discharge that internal buzz.

🔁 Unconscious beliefs perspective: the deeper driver is usually something like…
“If I slow down, I’ll fall behind.”
“Rest is lazy/selfish.”
“If I’m not useful, I’m not wanted/loveable.”
“If I don’t stay on top of everything, something bad will happen.”

So you never experience rest as rest…
You experience it as risk.

And that’s why you can sit on the couch and still feel guilty.
Or take a day off and somehow end up “fixing your whole life” by 3pm. 🙃

You can do all the “self-care” routines in the world—bubble baths, meditation, green smoothies—but if you’re still carrying old shame stories or that deep-down belief that you’re not good enough, it’s never going to feel like enough.

🧘‍♀️ The truth is, surface-level self-care can’t fix what’s running in the background if you’re stuck in old patterns of shame or perfectionism.

Real healing starts when you go deeper and look at where those beliefs actually came from—often way back in childhood or teenage years.

For most of my life I was a “half cup empty” kind of girl.
Negative Nelly.
Always scanning for what wasn’t working… and discounting every win.

If I slept a little better? “Yeah but I still woke up tired.”
If my gut was calmer? “Yeah but I still had heartburn after lunch.”
If my mood lifted? “Yeah but it won’t last.”

Underneath it all were deep unconscious beliefs that I was “weak and incapable”… so my brain kept looking for evidence of that (even while I was trying soooo hard to heal).

Here’s the thing: your brain always finds evidence for what you believe.

So if it’s searching for danger + “proof nothing’s changing”… your body stays in stress mode. And stress mode isn’t healing mode.

This is why brain rewiring is so powerful. With practice + consistency, you train your brain to notice micro evidence of healing:

“I didn’t crash after lunch.”
“My sleep was 10% better.”
“I had a clear thought at 3pm.”

And that creates a positive loop: safer brain → calmer nervous system → better body function → more progress.

When I started looking for evidence of healing every day, my healing sped up by about 5x (and I see this with clients all the time).
