Today we were delighted to welcome the Hon. Bridget Archer MP to The Eye Hospital for a meeting and tour of our facility.

The Minister met with our clinical and leadership teams to learn more about the specialised Ophthalmic services we provide, our commitment to patient-centred care, and the role we play in supporting timely access to eye surgery in the Northern Tasmania community.

We appreciated the opportunity to showcase our state-of-the-art theatres and the exceptional team behind the care we deliver every day.

How to Reduce the Risk of Blood Clots After Surgery

Your health and safety matter. Here are some important steps to help prevent blood clots during your recovery:
🔹 Complete your health history before admission – This helps us identify any previous clots or risk factors early.
🔹 Follow your prevention plan – You may be prescribed compression devices or medication based on your individual needs.
🔹 Move early and often – Gentle movement and leg exercises while sitting or lying down are essential.
🔹 Know the warning signs – Pain, tenderness, or swelling in your legs, shortness of breath, or chest pain should never be ignored. Report these symptoms immediately to your nurse or doctor.

Your discharge paperwork will include any at-home requirements for you and your GP.

Today is International Men’s Day!

This year’s theme, “Supporting Men and Boys,” encourages us to recognise the vital role communities play in promoting men’s health and wellbeing.

At Cura Day Hospitals Group, we proudly align with this theme by highlighting the importance of men’s health and celebrating the healthcare professionals who support men on their health journeys.

World Antimicrobial Awareness Week (WAAW) reminds us of the importance of using antibiotics responsibly to help prevent antimicrobial resistance.

For almost a century, antibiotics have saved countless lives but misuse and overuse can reduce their effectiveness over time.

This year’s theme, “Act Now: Protect Our Present, Secure Our Future,” encourages us all to take steps that preserve these vital medicines for generations to come.

Perioperative Nurses Week 2025

This week, we honour the incredible dedication of our perioperative nurses across Cura Day Hospitals Group facilities. In 2025, the theme is S.T.A.R.S, a tribute to the vital roles that make up the perioperative journey:

S.T.A.R.S stands for:
🔹 Scrub/Scout Nurses
🔹 Technicians
🔹 Anaesthetics
🔹 Recovery
🔹 Support (including administration, managers, cleaners, and educators)

At Cura, we are deeply grateful for the skill, compassion, and excellence our perioperative nurses bring to every patient, every day. Their unwavering commitment continues to elevate the standard of care across our hospitals.

💙 Thank you to all our perioperative nurses and support teams. You truly make a difference!
