I Love this work! Combining ancient wisdom and modern science, the Chakra system provides a comprehensive framework for understanding the whole self; the physiological and biological, emotional, mental and spiritual. And an exploration of the self through the chakras can help you to get to know where you might need to create new strategies for growth & change to release yourself from the residue & blockages of trauma.

After successfully developing and sharing this 9 week program in the studio for the past few years, I'm now sharing this program online to open up the offering to a wider audience.

This is a full yoga course, designed to help you take a journey through the chakras from the ground up. It is supported by 9x weekly 90 minute classes, learning resources and materials that include videos and audio recordings to support a home practice and self reflection.

I'm a Somatic Expereincing Practitioner specialising in trauma recovery, a Trauma Sensitive Yoga Teacher with over 10 years expereince working in this space; and a life long yogi! Drawing on knowledge and practices from the modern world of Somatic Expereincing and the ancient wisdom of Hatha Yoga in this program I'll share how to:

- Land in the safety and stability of your roots and kinship
- Nurture your ability to create, grow, flow and change
- Stoke the fire of self-autonomy, identity and determination
- Cultivate preparedness for relationships, empathy, forgiveness and compassion
- Learn safe and true expressions of all your authentic parts
- Enhance intuition and clarity for the life you want to live
- Establish your place in environment and community

We meet weekly online 5:30pm starting 23rd September

Flow @ Home, Mondays 5:45pm

I know from expereince its hard to start a home practice, let alone maintain one.

Actually the first ever yoga practice I ever did was at home; but I wasn’t alone and I didn’t start myself. I was 17 and had a friend (also Sarah) super excited to be delving into the journey of yoga teacher training and she wanted some guinea pigs to practice on - after I was hooked.

About 15 years later I started my own teacher training journey and then opened Ujjayi Yoga studio in that very same home I first practiced in. I even taught some of the same things (other) Sarah taught me that no other yoga teacher has shown me since.

Along the way I’ve contemplated the idea of a solo home yoga practice a lot. Traditionally yoga is something taught and practiced in tandem - teacher to student. The student is given home-work to practise; but the process of developing practice is communal.

Some of us thrive in our home practice, and rolling out the mat is a cherished and sacred time. This isn’t the case for all of us, myself included. People often ask me what my solo practice looks like - and I think it looks like me getting about my day (I made the Yamas and Nyamas my practice some time ago) and you won’t aften see me on a mat by myself in a down dog.

Something else I very much recognise in myself is that if I didn’t practice so much mat yoga (the flows of asana/shapes and breath work) with all of you, I’d absolutely crave it - and I’d have to figure out where and how I could create the time, space and discipline to practice !?!? I’d need support and accountability.

If you’re like me, I’d like to help by inviting you to join me for a live online Yoga practice each Monday evening this spring. So you can dedicate yourself to a consistent and supported home yoga practice.

Ever wondered what a home yoga practice could look like?

Do I have the discipline? But I'll get distracted by so many things! What will I do?

To help you develop a dedicated and practical a home practice I'm now offering online "Flow @ Home" yoga classes. Starting this spring, to help you transition into an active summer, I'll share a live Monday evening slow flow yoga practice at 5:45pm.

All you need is good internet connection and a dedicated patch of floor.

Come home, find your patch, stretch, flow, breath, connect... And the best part, after savasana you don't have get up and drive a car home, you can flop right onto your bed and sleep!

Open to everyone, we'll find accessible and satisfying shapes and flows. No experience necessary, so its great for those of you a little intimidated by the studio.

Flow @ Home will be a 9 week season, 22nd Sep to 17th Nov.

Get in touch to book your spot :)

The Practice of Somatic Experience has felt like such a gift to me recently. I've been sharing space with people as they reconnect to their bodies; witnessing the feeling of safety and contentment grow; and watching the release of fear and the bonds of trauma - it is truly incredible what we are capable of!

If you feel you, or someone you know, could benefit from some support and guidance to release and heal the stuckness of trauma and restore goodness, I have ongoing online Somatic Experiencing sessions available starting from next week.

Welcome to Ujjayi Yoga Tasmania

Ujjayi / “oo-jai” from the Sanskrit translated to victorious.

Based in Launceston, our studio shares a Revolutionary Hatha Yoga that promotes and supports qualities that can help you to live victorious within your self.

At Ujjayi we specialise in trauma sensitive yoga (TSY), Somatic Experiencing TM and embodiment therapies for trauma recovery. We use yoga and movement to attune to our sensory intelligence and develop skills to manage and recover from the distressing somatic symptoms of trauma held in the body.
