He’s back and we’re counting down!

We’re absolutely thrilled to welcome Dr Luke Heathcote back to Launceston Medical Centre on Thursday, 5 February 🙌

Tasmanian born and bred, Luke returns to us after spending time at our sister practice Norwood Medical Centre where he’ll be consulting until the end of January. Then it’s bags packed, stethoscope ready, and back to LMC he comes!

A graduate of the University of Tasmania (2021), Luke has worked across Paediatrics, General Surgery, Emergency Medicine, Obstetrics & Gynaecology, and Intensive Care at Launceston General Hospital, before moving into general practice in 2024. In 2025, he was named Tasmanian GP in Training of the Year because excellence tends to follow him around! 🏆

Luke is passionate about patient-centred care, preventive medicine, and medical education, and loves the continuity and relationships that general practice brings. Outside work, he’s busy enjoying Tasmania’s food and wine festivals and exploring the state (tough gig, someone has to do it 🍷).

We can’t wait to have you back, Luke! February can’t come fast enough! 😄

While Australia is dominating The Ashes and fans are buzzing about Cummins’ return, this summer’s cricket excitement isn’t just on the big stage - we’ve got our own star in the spotlight!

Dr Glenn Richardson has been selected for the Silver Ashes and World Cup squad next Feb/March, heading off once again to represent Australia at the big tournaments! 🎉🙌

🩺 And no, he’s not retiring (not yet anyway 😉) but he will be off making us proud on the cricketing world stage.

📅 Regular patients: make sure you snag your appointments early before Dr Glenn trades his clinic chair for a comfy pavilion seat! 😄🏏

Honestly, how lucky is Launceston to have this incredible family of doctors?! Collectively, they’ve provided an amazing contribution to the health of our community, and their impact is just huge. Absolute legends.

Wednesday was International Men’s Day, and what better way to mark the occasion than joining the Clifford Craig Foundations "Let’s Talk Men’s Health" event at The Range, Country Club Tasmania.

Dr Muir Wilson was part of the four–person panel, sharing insights into some of the common health concerns that matter most to male patients.

We know many men aren’t always the best at taking a moment to talk about their health, so events like this are a great way to open the door to these important conversations.

And while we can’t offer a beverage from Du Cane Brewing or a practice swing, it’s always a good time to book an appointment with your regular GP to take a look under the hood!

This week we’ve welcomed three Grade 10 students from Scotch Oakburn College for work experience! 🎓✨

They’ve had the chance to observe a wide range of procedures and presentations (mostly in our treatment rooms), and even got to test out their own suturing skills on our fake-skin kits... steady hands all round! 🧵🩺🙌

It’s been a pleasure having them with us and giving them a glimpse into life as a healthcare professional!

Full steam ahead for the new TerryWhite Chemmart Health Hub fitout, which will see the team move to the ground floor.

The new location is not only closer to the cafe 😉 but provides Wellington Street access and short-term parking for a quick pick up/drop off!

Yesterday our LMC and Urgent Care doctors enjoyed a fantastic session with Katelyn McNab and Kirby Tuckerman, specialised physiotherapists from the LGH Hand Clinic.

It was highly informative, practical, and genuinely fascinating.... hands down one of our best sessions yet! 👋😉

It might have taken 50+ WhatsApp messages to organise a coffee order, but totally worth it. ☕😂

We’re SUPER excited to announce that Lumus Imaging has commenced its fit-out, with doors expected to open around Easter 2026! The new service will provide a much needed expansion to CT, MRI, US and X-ray services for the Launceston Community! 🙌
