ADP athletes don’t just train for the gym… they train for life 🏃‍♀️

This weekend our crew took on a 5km parkrun and proved exactly why constantly varied training matters. Strength, engine, grit and community all showed up.

ADP training builds:
• Aerobic capacity to keep moving
• Strength to stay resilient
• Mental toughness to keep pushing
• Confidence to try new challenges

You don’t have to be a “runner” to run.
You don’t have to specialise to show up.
You just have to be willing to give it a go.

So proud of everyone who laced up, stepped outside their comfort zone and represented our community. 💪

Sorry for all those we missed in the photos , next run pre race group shot!!

Train like a women..

Stop taking nutrition and training advice made for men.
Unfortunately much nutrition advice we follow is geared towards men..’We are not small men’ Dr Sims.

Women are different — your hormones, metabolism, and stress response systems don’t work the same way.

As a women you need to stop forcing yourself into someone else’s plan and start training in a way that supports your body.

Start with this: stop training fasted.

Working out without fuel — especially in the morning — spikes stress hormones.
Your body doesn’t see it as “fat burning”… it sees it as a threat.

That can lead to:
• muscle loss
• stubborn belly fat
• fatigue and burnout

Even a small protein-based snack before training can make a massive difference.

You don’t need to punish yourself.
You need to fuel properly, lift smart, and stop following rules that were never made for you.

Fasted training is a trend — and honestly… it needs to die off already.

“Train Like a Woman. Not a Smaller Man.”Dr Sims

ADP programming is designed by the coaches for the community they train. Many fitness facilities buy their programming therefore offer a one size fits all form of training. This can be damaging especially to women and here is why……

A misunderstanding of high-intensity training e.g., daily WODs with little recovery can backfire for women due to higher cortisol sensitivity. We are training for a more healthy fulfilling life not to walk around burnt out after each training session! So……..

💡 What to do:
• Limit full-intensity WODs to 2–3 times per week. Lifting heavy for you and within a scalable program ( e.g. this could be body weight only ) and with enough rest is essential -particulary in perimenapause and menopause.
• Balance with low-intensity aerobic work, mobility, and full recovery days.
• Pay attention to sleep, mood, and hunger — key signs of stress.

Women at any age share their mental and physical energy in so many directions and therefore need to use it wisely….

Your training should be uniquely placed to help you train smarter, not harder — should recognise that physiology isn’t the same every day of the month.— Dr. Stacy Sims, CrossFit Podcast Ep. 21

The gap between neglect and care is built on daily decisions. Strength training protects bones and metabolism, whole foods support organ function and energy, walking improves cardiovascular health, hydration supports cellular function, and sleep regulates hormones and recovery. Connection to others in a supportive environment is key to sound mental health! Just walk through our doors start that journey. Your body is your long-term investment — treat it like one.
