As 2025 draws to an end, we stopped to drink tea, try some new dim sum and catch up without rushing to the next appointment. Very grateful to work with this wonderful group of people.

So good to see Moreton Bay taking accessibility to the next level. 💦

Accessibility at City of Moreton Bay pools has been hoisted to new heights with new hoists installed at several of our pool and leisure centres, helping ensure everyone can enjoy the water safely and confidently. 💦

These upgrades support the 1 in 5 people living with disability in our City by providing a safe and dignified way for swimmers and carers to access our pools using slings and water wheelchairs.

📍 Redcliffe War Memorial Pool
📍 Ferny Hills Aquatic Centre
📍 Dayboro Pool and Gym (which has also received new portable stairs for easier access to the water)

Anti-aging potions and lotions focus on your skin. But what are you doing for your bones?

Did you know—from your 30s onwards, more of the bones in your body break down than are being rebuilt. 😮

That's why it's important to keep your bones in tip-top shape as you age. Looking after them will help keep you moving around, doing all the things you love. 🤗

It also reduces your risk of falling and ending up in hospital with painful hip and wrist fractures or a head injury.

If you have an increased risk for osteoporosis, a condition where bones become weak, thin, and brittle, you'll also need to get a bone check-up with a bone density scan. 🦴

Osteoporosis is most common in women over 50. Other factors that can increase your risk include:
> family history of the condition
> low calcium intake
> low hormone levels
> low vitamin D levels
> low levels of physical activity
> smoking
> excessive alcohol intake
> being underweight or overweight.

A bone density scan is a simple scan that measures the minerals in your hip and spine bones. It helps determine if more action is needed to protect your bone health.

Bone density scans are available at most medical imaging centres. See your GP for a referral if you're at risk. 👨‍⚕️

You’d be forgiven for not being sure what time of year it is. 🎄🎃 🐣 🗓️Christmas decorations are up at the shops, Halloween decorations have been abandoned in the streets and hot cross buns are always in stock.

One of the key dates for many health funds though is 31 December, as extras often reset for the new calendar year. It’s not a case of using extras just for the sake of it - it’s about using them if you need it, when you need it.
