I’ve discovered the phrase Second Spring referring to perimenopause, a time of transition away from the outward giving focus that served so well during the child bearing and child raising years, a shift towards inward energy conservation and a focus on nourishment.

Now more that ever women need to fill their cup. High demands on us means high need for restorative practices. Boundaried time restores our nervous system. Setting side time and space for our body and mind to engage in sensory, repetitive creative activities that require intense focus shifts attention into the present moment and releases serotonin. This often leading to feelings of calm, a sense of control (of the now), and provides a sense of accomplishment. Besides that, weaving is fun and you might even make a new friend.
4 tickets remain, so don’t hesitate to make that booking now.

The body chooses the materials. Ancient knowings reach for softness, repetition, colour, pattern creating, quietness. Our hands aren’t just pulling threads, wrapping and twisting, creating is the parts of our body without vocal cords expressing, releasing, soothing, holding, clarifying, embodying new perspectives, testing out self trust. The movements of our hands brings into being things that have never existed before, we have become a co-creator. Creating is a profound response of Self, to our inner terrain and the world. Join us for some soul nourishment this Saturday.

Marigolds have charmed me! Last year I harvested seeds from my own marigolds and sowed them back into the earth, I watered and tended them until their lil yellow and orange faces were fully blooming. They release a spicy herbaceous scent that I really love as I gather them, I leave them to dry in wire strainers in the sun. When I have a pot full, into the dye pot they go. This yarn will dry in the shade and depending on colour, may go back in for a second dip! 💛 I am totally mesmerised by eco dyeing, I find it deeply therapeutic, the hotter seasons are behind us and I finally have a space to hold dyeing workshops, so excited to be releasing dates soon. Follow me here for workshop dates.

A little green in between appointments today. Surrounded by lizards, the sound of trickling water, green in every shade and bird song. My fav journal place is anywhere outdoors.

Bouldering: flexibility, strength, balance, endurance, problem solving, coordination, risk taking, flow, stability, holding, letting go, focus, stretching, tension, crossing the body, support, adaptability, courage, self-efficacy… Current research on rock climbing as therapy suggests it is a promising therapeutic tool! My lived experiencing of bouldering supports this, it’s one of my most effective and enlivening somatic supports.

How to show up for your therapy session:
Just show up.
Anxious. Messy. Overwhelmed. Sad. Struggling. Cynical. Angry. Stressed. Confused. Reluctant. Just show up. Walk in the door. Enter the space. Talk, don’t talk. Just arrive. Come as you are. Show up, bring your full humanity!

How to solar dye: add fabric scraps & wool to a jar. Add foraged native fruit. Put in sun. Completely forget about it for 8-ish weeks. Hang in sun, be wowed!
First pictures are wet, second show the colour dry! 💜
PS it is a fugitive dye but that’s ok it’s all about the process. I’ll keep it away from light and just enjoy it! So pretty. Thanks Gail for the foraged fruit! 💜.
Botanical dyeing is my therapy! Want to learn?
