The actual design brief/colour request: “Pastels”

When we have a lot of freedom we get excited, which generally ends in complimentary upgrades. Two colours was not enough 😍😍😍

You really don’t have as much time as you think in one take videos 😅 What was missed:

I commonly get asked why I don’t include braided handles into my catalogue and while my response is usually a joke about being too lazy (not a joke though), there is actually a more comprehensive answer.

I make and sell the things that I would use. No compromising and no product lines that are a cash grab.

My initial designs did indeed include braided handles, however I quickly realised that [generally] implements with braided or highly textured handles are not made for constant movement inside the hands. They are meant for a single action where high friction is required, for example whips and sporting bats/racquets.

The end result is a very raw palm from a night of flogging.

In the reel you can see that I’m not only pointing to the panel connections, which caused some issues with the hand stitching, but also how the panel seams created a lumpy handle. From experience, any lump can make a flowing rotation in the palm inconsistent, thus affecting accuracy.

The compromise for friction and tactile feedback is our signature hand sewn cross stitch line connecting the wrap. This ridge can control sweaty hands and also allow you to set up dragon tails, tongues and floggers for a big strike, without needing to look away from the target.

In summary everything is intentional and if I wouldn’t use it, I won’t sell it. Braids are lovely to look at and have a place in the flow method for single strike items, but to flow, we make FLAT.

Deer hide floggers in all sizes but mop will take priority. Our estimates are that all the midnight deer will be gone by the end of the next run, so throw yourself on the waiting list if you miss out!!

Every thing is prettier in pink, right? And gold.. let’s chat about cuffs.

Our slip cuffs are the result of needing a better option for a long impact scene. Why? In a nutshell:

Buckled cuffs are great for hand to hand, but can be slow to put on and adjust correctly. Further, when bearing weight, while attached to hard point, they actually c**k the wrist quite aggressively - creating an unnecessary risk to the bottom.

Rope cuffs are great for rope practice, but can put huge pressure on the radial nerve. There is also potential for the rope to move, tighten and cut in. This means time that should be dedicated to impact is spent checking in on the bottoms comfort, capillary refill or worse; the bottom is thinking about how uncomfortable their cuffs are instead of dropping into bottom space.

Our slip cuffs defeat all the aforementioned issues, allowing the players to focus on impact and most importantly, connection. They are fast to apply, self tighten, one size fits all (extra tiny to H’s 3XL bear paws), far stronger than all other cuff designs, leave the nerve pathways clear, provide a hold for the bottom and suitable for a huge number of positions and hard points (not just impact 😉)

Deer hide finger floggers on luxe gold accent, black base handles.

Common question: No swivels? Nope! we personally believe they reduce control in two ways.

1. Centrifugal force fights accuracy, creates stray falls and is never consistent.

2. The additional length and “links in the chain” required means more things to accommodate for when you are using them.

We have used our own designs for hours at a time on different bodies and in different environments. We’ve obsessed over its practicality and developed each detail accordingly. But you know what? Opinions are like butts, everyone has one and we all talk crap. Love a swivel? We salute you too.

What are your thoughts?
