Just Ask - Could it be Sepsis?

Twelve-year-old Aaroh developed a mild fever the evening after a minor medical test. Over the next day, he experienced pelvic pain, leg weakness, and fatigue. Despite visiting multiple clinics and a hospital, his vital signs were never checked. His parents were told his symptoms were routine post-procedure discomfort. That night, he told his mother, “Something is very wrong with my legs,” and collapsed moments later.

Aaroh went into septic shock and passed away before he could be transferred to intensive care.

His story is a heartbreaking reminder that can impact anyone. Aaroh was deeply loved, and his family now shares his story to help save other children’s lives.

As World AMR Awareness Week comes to a close, remember:

Appropriate use of antibiotics to treat sepsis reduces risk of AMR.

Timely, appropriate antibiotic use for sepsis can help lower AMR, especially when paired with review and adjustment as part of stewardship protocols. When sepsis is suspected every moment to antibiotic treatment counts.

Timely antibiotics for sepsis + responsible review = lives saved + AMR risk reduced

Act Now: Protect Our Present, Secure Our Future.

Always ask…” Could it be Sepsis?”
