Last Sunday, the Gralee School and Leeton community lost a truly cherished teacher, Arthur Stavrow. His impact went far beyond the classroom — from volunteering in our gardens and playgrounds to creating two beautiful garden spaces that we all enjoy today. Arthur often stopped by to water and w**d, showing his ongoing care for the school.
Arthur’s legacy lives on through the countless children he taught over the years, not just at Gralee but in many other schools, often educating generations of families. He was also a published author, a passionate fish enthusiast, a pizza oven builder, and a dear friend to many.
If you were lucky enough to know Arthur, you’ll feel the loss deeply. In keeping with his wishes, there will be no fuss — his funeral will be held in Sydney and live-streamed for those in Leeton who would like to attend virtually.
We’ll miss you, Arthur. Vale. 😢
