Throw back to our end of year party.

A bit of meditation by Rosie, our past practice manager who now leads our Yins and Pins with .acupuncture at Papaya monthly.
.realignment,.goal setting, .trivia, .celebrating wins, . watching bubs and kids,
..making body scrub under the supervision of Sophie, our practice manager (ex-naturopath for over 20 years) and turned our studio into a kitchen filled with lemon, coffee and all sorts of beautiful smells.

Here's to a bright and fun 2026 đź’– and cannot wait to see where we go with the two clinics!

23/01/2026

If you've just had a baby and want to return to running or lifting heavy weights, we have a class for you!

Safe for mums from 6 weeks postpartum, we teach you how to lift weights properly, fix your biomechanics, engage you core and pelvic floor properly, and strengthen your abdominals so you can return to your gym routine or sports safer and stronger than before.

In this space, everyone progresses in different pace. We all have a different starting point, and our women's health and sports physios are here to help you become a confident and strong mama regardless of your movement background. đź’™

Join us every sat morning at 9:30am. No ongoing enrolment required (though we recommend being consistent for at least 3-4 months to get the best recovery postpartum) just book in on our app and show up. Eligible for physio health fund rebates.

Note: women's health physio assessment highly recommended at 6-8 weeks postpartum before joining this class. This is so we can tailor the pelvic floor cueing and focus for the individuals during the class.

Gill is officially back from Mat leave and a nice holiday in Canada! She's also been promoted from Senior Physiotherapist to Clinical Lead at Movement Laboratory.

We are so thrilled to have her back, and see her transition into her new role, taking care of our patients and team with such care and thoughtfulness.

She's available for Physiotherapy appointments on weds Thurs Fri at Leichhardt and will be teaching some physio Pilates classes as well.

Say hi to her next time you're in!

Sitting at your desk for too long and feeling slumped? You need the 3-Second Posture Reset!

Here’s the breakdown:

Release the Load: Simply dropping your shoulders gets rid of subconscious strain.

Pull your chin back:
Is your chin poking forward and causing unnecessary strain.

Unclench your jaw.
Teeth grinding and crunching can cause
stress in your TMJ and neck.

Activate Calm: The box breathing (inhale 4, hold 4, exhale 4) to reset our nervous system

Do these 4 things and tell us how you feel?

Let’s talk about fascia!

It’s not just your muscles that influence the way you move and feel.
Your fascia, the connective tissue that wraps around every muscle, bone, and organ.
If you removed all the muscle from the body, the fascia would still hold the shape of a human. That’s how interconnected it is.

Fascia sits on top of the muscles, running in long cross-linked patterns.
Its mobility changes with how you move, how hydrated you are, and the overall quality of your movement patterns.

And here’s the part most people don’t realise:
Fascial tension feels very different to muscle tightness. And it needs to be treated differently, too.

In our clinic, Alex uses structural integration and soft-tissue work to release these deeper fascial restrictions often the missing piece for people with long-standing pain or recurring tightness.

Swipe through to learn what fascia actually is, why it holds onto tension, and how releasing it can finally create lasting change in your body.

One of the most common things we see in dancers is turning out from the knees and feet instead of the hips.
And while it might look like more turnout, it puts a whole lot of unnecessary load through the knees, ankles, and lower back.
We also see a lot of dancers “tucking under” to get a flat back which usually leads to:
• front-hip pinching or tension
• gripping through the hip flexors
• hinging in the lower back
• or, in hypermobile dancers, slipping straight into extension without real control
None of these patterns make you a “bad” dancer they’re just common habits your body develops to try and get the shape you want.

But over time, they can create pain, instability, and technique plateaus.
At Movement Lab, we focus on helping you build true turnout, true core control, and true extension from the right places.
So your technique isn’t just beautiful… it's resilient.

"Your back pain is lying to you. It’s rarely just a problem with your spine. We believe that every single system & joint in the body will contribute to stiffness and mobility above and below.

The truth? Your body moves as one system. Shallow chest breaths strain your neck. A slouched pelvis turns off your core. And your lower back ends up taking the heat for both.

Swipe through this carousel to learn the 3 major connections between your habits and your aches, plus actionable fixes you can try at your desk today!

Which common posture mistake are you making most often? Let us know below!

Your breathe shapes your posture, your strength, your mobility, and how your whole body feels day to day.
A lot of people don’t realise they’re not breathing well until the symptoms start stacking up:
• A stiff, tight upper back
• Feeling “collapsed” or rounded through the chest
• Neck tightness or headaches
• Reduced mobility through the mid-spine
• Struggling with overhead movements
• Feeling breathless during simple exercises

When your diaphragm isn’t doing its job, the rest of your body tries to help and that’s where compensation, tightness, and fatigue show up.
The good news?

Breath is one of the most powerful things you can retrain.
And when you do, your whole body starts to move better.
If you want to learn how to breathe with more ease (and less tension), we’re here to help.
