⚠️ Measles Alert – Byron Bay Area ⚠️
People are urged to be alert for signs and symptoms of measles after a confirmed case visited several locations in the Byron Bay area recently while infectious.
If you were at any of the locations below, please monitor for symptoms until 3 March 2026. NOTE: These locations do NOT pose an ongoing risk.
📍Monday 9 Feb 2026
• Northern Rivers Football Academy fields, Ewingsdale Rd, Byron Bay — 7pm–9:30pm
📍 Tuesday 10 Feb 2026
• Businesses at 73–75 Centennial Circuit, Byron Bay Industrial Estate — all day
• Ms Ho Hot Rolls, 88 Centennial Circuit — 1pm–2:30pm
📍 Wednesday 11 Feb 2026
• Businesses at 73–75 Centennial Circuit — all day
• Ms Ho Hot Rolls — 1pm–2:30pm
📍Friday 13 Feb 2026
• Byron Central Hospital Emergency Department — 3pm–6:10pm
❗Measles spreads through the air and is vaccine preventable.
🤧Symptoms include a fever, sore eyes, runny nose, cough, followed by a red, blotchy rash 3–4 days later.
If symptoms appear, call ahead to your GP or hospital before visiting to avoid exposing others to the virus.
If it has been less than 6 days since the exposure at these locations and you are pregnant, have a weakened immune system or have an infant who was exposed, contact your local Public Health Unit on 1300 066 055.
💉 Vaccination reminder:
• Anyone born after 1965 should ensure they’ve had 2 doses of MMR vaccine.
• The MMR vaccine is free for children at 12 & 18 months, and for anyone born after 1965 who hasn’t had 2 doses.
• Available from GPs (all ages) and pharmacies (5+ years).
