International Talk Like a Pirate Day provided the perfect opportunity for staff to
dress up in character and engage the residents in some fun activities to bring joy
and nostalgia to their day.

A beautiful gift today courtesy of master craftsman John Dowling, who created these amazing games boards as a donation to our Mary's Grange nursing home community.

John is quite an artisan and used his unique skills to fashion a Backgammon and Chess boards, as well as the mini chest to hold the chess pieces.

These games are all for the use of our Mary's Grange residents, and we can't thank John enough!

Recently we said a sad, but happy farewell to one of our long-serving St Joseph's nursing staff, Glennis McErlean, who has been with us for 49 years!!!
It was a pleasure for some of Glennis' closest colleagues to put on morning tea to celebrate her retirement. Our staff and residents will miss you Glennis, and wish you all the best.. It's time to relax! 😀

That was a great craic! At St Joseph's this week there were shamrocks and shenanigans as we celebrated St Patrick’s Day. Residents and staff got into the theme dressing up and having fun. Don't worry, everybody was behaving themselves! ☘️☘️☘️

Great to be celebrating this amazing lady. Thank you Rhonda Rann for everything you do for us here at St Joseph's Lismore.

Rhonda Rann has seen a lot go down at St Vincent’s Hospital in her time and respectfully so is one of the most loved nurses by both both patients and peers.

Rhonda first trained as an EN at St Vinnies in 1976/77, moving on to start a family and work at Nimbin Hospital for a period of time. She returned to St Vincents in 1991, first working in the orthopedic ward and having spent the last 21 years in the St Joseph's Lismore Aged Care Unit.

Rhonda has seen more than 5 managers in her time learning to adjust to changing expectations whilst always delivering top quality hands on personal care to those in her charge.

Rhonda has always loved caring for others and enjoys having a good laugh with the residents at St Joey’s and the long standing relationships she develops with their family members.

Today we’d like to acknowledge and celebrate the values and high standard of care Rhonda has brought to St Vincents over the past 33 years.

Huge appreciation to you Rhonda.

Tuesday 7 August is Aged Care Employee Day!

We would like to say to the men and women who work tirelessly at St Joseph’s Nursing Home and Mary’s Grange to care for our residents and loved ones.

Our dedicated and compassionate staff on the ground is the backbone of our organisation, supporting older Australians day in and day out to make their lives better.

Today’s staff barbeque (held indoors because of the inclement weather in Lismore) is a small but heartfelt ‘thanks for caring’ and for keeping our loved ones safe and well.
