Last week, Ingham Institute was invited to the Vitocco Charity Golf Day at Lakeside Golf Course. The Australian Centre for Cancer Equity(AcCE) was chosen as the recipient of all donations raised on the day. We are grateful for your support in facilitating AcCE’s mission to eliminate disparities in cancer outcomes.

Professor Wei Chua, Chair of the Australian Centre for Cancer Equity, presented on Bridging the Gap for Equitable Cancer Services, showcasing AcCE’s vision and featured projects. Professor Chua highlighted the eviQ Cancer-TRUST Project, a multilingual AI chatbot co-designed with consumers to improve access to cancer treatment resources in their own language.

A huge thank you to the Vitocco family for organising such a wonderful day, and to every guest and supporter who contributed so generously. Your collective giving will make a real difference in ensuring cancer care is equitable and accessible for everyone in our community.

If you are interested in knowing more about AcCE, please reach out to AcCE@inghaminstitute.org.au.

Earlier this month, we marked the six-month milestone of the Perich Centre for Robotics and Health Technology at Ingham Institute.

It was a pleasure to welcome the Perich family and share the Centre’s progress through a series of presentations and live demonstrations from our researchers.

▪ Dr. Sharon Kay and Dr. Hao Tran showcased innovations from the Heart Lab, including remote ultrasound, advanced imaging, and training initiatives.

▪ Terry Carney demonstrated teleproctoring technology, enabling real-time collaboration between interventional cardiologists and surgical teams.

▪ Dr. Lauren Christie presented exoskeleton technology supporting post-stroke rehabilitation.

Together, these projects highlight how the Centre is advancing innovative technologies to improve access, outcomes, and equity in care.

The Perich family’s support has made this facility possible, helping drive meaningful innovation and bridge gaps in healthcare across our community.

We are incredibly proud to see Professor Kazuaki Negishi and his groundbreaking work on sonoperfusion featured in The Australian.

Prof Negishi’s clinical trial has shown that this innovative technique can save up to 80% of heart muscle function in severe heart attack cases, a result that could transform cardiac care for the 57,000 Australians who suffer a heart attack each year.

This work is made possible through the incredible collaboration between Ingham Institute, Victor Chang Cardiac Research Institute, UNSW Sydney and South Western Sydney Local Health District. Together, we are driving research that creates real change for our community and beyond.
