🐴 Why is this beneficial?
🔹A horse can have a set of foot balance radiographs taken to assess the internal angles of important structures within his hoof capsule.
🔹These images provide the vet and farrier with valuable information regarding the hoofs internal structures and integrity.
🔹Once the Radiograph pops up on screen, measurements are able to be applied over the image.
🔹These measurements give an indication on many different factors, one example being sole depth, and provide an indication as to whether remedial trimming or shoeing may be required.
🔹These images also give our vets an opportunity to pick up on various pathologies (disease or damage) within the hoof early - and allow for collaboration with the client’s farrier on how best to approach ongoing management of any issues.
🔹Radiographs are also very helpful in tracking progress on patients who have existing conditions that require close monitoring. For example, horses and ponies who are prone to Laminitis.
🔹These images enable decision making regarding hoof care techniques that bit easier!
🔹If other soundness concerns are identified at the time of appointment, we are able to create a plan moving forward for further diagnosis and workups if required.
