To the Lockhart Community,
I am aware there has been concern regarding the recent change in service provision at Lockhart Medical Practice.
This is a temporary situation, due to unforeseen personal circumstances following the sudden and unexpected passing of a very close relative. I am taking a short period to manage this personal loss and associated responsibilities.
I understand that any disruption to medical services in a small community can be concerning. I would like to reassure the community that medical services continue to be available, albeit in a reduced capacity during this period.
Current arrangements are as follows:
The practice remains open with limited services
Telehealth consultations are being arranged where possible
A visiting doctor will attend next Tuesday
Blood collection continues on Mondays and Wednesdays
Allied health services (podiatry, dietetics, diabetes education) remain unchanged
Additional support is available via:
Lockhart MPS (including remote medical and critical care advisory services)
1800 Medicare for after-hours care
Call 000 in any life-threatening emergency
It is also important to clarify that the provision of medical services to Lockhart MPS during periods when I am not available is the responsibility of Murrumbidgee Local Health District, which is responsible for ensuring continuity of care within the facility.
The practice will return to full capacity as soon as practicable.
I appreciate the understanding and support of the community during this time.
