Logan Hospital

Logan Hospital We’re the major public healthcare centre for the City of Logan, Queensland.

Logan Hospital is the major health centre for one of the fastest growing regions in the state. We have grown from a 48-bed community hospital in 1990 to a 448-bed hospital today, mirroring the rapid growth in population in the Logan region. We provide acute medical, surgical, rehabilitation, maternity, cardiology, orthopaedics, renal and other specialty services for children and adults. We're the

location of Queensland's largest ever hospital expansion project on an existing hospital site—with a total capital investment of more than one billion dollars. In the coming years, the hospital will increase in size by almost half, with a significant increase in beds and treatment spaces across several new wards and a range of expanded support services.

Meet Adiola Mazambani, Team Leader in Child and Youth Mental Health. ⭐

Recognised for her leadership, Adiola brings a unique and caring approach to mental health, shaped by her experience across the UK, Australia and Zimbabwe.

In her role, Adiola supports young people and families through difficult times, always focusing on connection and understanding.

Her work is guided by the idea of “Ubuntu” which means “I am because we are.” It reflects her strong belief that care is about people, relationships and community.

Adiola says every family she works with has helped shape the way she cares. She believes it is not just about clinical skills, but about listening, being curious and understanding each person’s story.

She also values teamwork and believes good leadership means growing together, supporting each other and creating a positive culture. 🩷

Logan Hospital’s Rehab team recently worked with patient Mara Paul and her family to host a private Australian citizenship ceremony on the ward.

Surrounded by family, friends and staff supporting her recovery, Mara officially became an Australian citizen after nearly 20 years in Australia.

“It was such a privilege to have my own ceremony here,” Mara said.

The ceremony ended with a special moment, as Mara’s husband John led a Māori hymn.

A lovely example of ways our staff go above and beyond to provide culturally safe, patient centred care. 💛

Meet Liberty Wainwright from Rochedale State High School! 🌟

The Year 12 student has taken her first step towards a career in health with an administration traineeship at Logan Hospital.

Excited to learn and help people every day, she’s already gaining hands-on experience across the wards and with hospital services.

“The traineeship is perfect for building skills and seeing how a hospital really works,” Liberty said. “I love working as part of a team and making a difference.”

Programs like this give students across Metro South the chance to explore health careers while still at school – from nursing and allied health to food and patient support services. 💙

Baby Isa and his family are celebrating an extra special Easter, with their gorgeous bub now safely at home after 86 long days in hospital. 🐰

Isa surprised his mum Tiani by arriving roughly 12 weeks before his due date of 1 April. Since then, he’s spent nearly three months growing stronger each day, working his way back to that original milestone.

In a full-circle moment Tiani was able to take her sweet boy home on the very day he was meant to arrive.

The proud mum shared that her son's name means Jesus, make the timing of going home especially fitting as Easter marks a time of new life and renewal.

Isa is the third child of Tiana and J***y and his two older siblings have been eagerly waiting for him to come home. Now, after weeks apart, the family is finally together.

A pretty special Easter gift for everyone. ❤️

Say hello to some of our wonderful youth mental health Step Up, Step Down staff. 👋

The service in Logan offers a comfortable, home-like environment where young people aged 16 to 21 can stay for up to 28 days.

During their stay, they can access short-term intensive mental health support including psychosocial interventions, group programs and individualised recovery planning.

Team Leader Stacey Sobolewski explained the program is about recovery-focused care.

“This means stepping up before a crisis becomes overwhelming, and stepping down after hospital, so recovery and life in the community become real,” she said.

The service recently held an open day for local health professionals and partners, raising awareness of the important support it provides to young people. ❤️

Hi! I’m Meeya. I’m a clinical nurse in Logan Hospital’s Paediatric Emergency Department (ED). 👋

I love meeting and helping families from different cultures learn more about healthcare. It excites me when they’re eager to learn and feel empowered about their child’s health.

My mum is from Thailand and grew up without access to good healthcare, so navigating it here was all new for her and I have a huge heart for that aspect of healthcare.

I also love connecting with parents and validating their concerns, as I was a mum before I was a nurse and will never forget how difficult it was being in hospital with my children not understanding what was going on sometimes.

As a senior paediatric nurse, I’m often the shift manager in the department. I support junior team members, help with audits to improve our healthcare delivery and promote a positive working culture. 🏥🧑🏻‍⚕️

I love how the team on shift (nurses, doctors, social workers, mental health clinicians) all work together for the good of the children. Everything we do is for them (and their families), helping them to feel at ease and bringing joy.

I’m a mum of five kids (and three dogs), and I’m studying to become a nurse practitioner.

I’ve been a musician and singer my whole life; it’s my passion outside of work. I have my own YouTube channel called ‘Musical Medicine with Nurse Meeya’ to help kids learn all about their bodies and how they work. 🎸🎤

Thanks for joining me for a day in my life - for real! 🥰

Our Story

Logan Hospital is the major health centre for one of the fastest growing regions in the state. We have grown from a 48-bed community hospital in 1990 to a 448-bed hospital today, mirroring the rapid growth in population in the Logan region. Services we provide We provide acute medical, surgical, rehabilitation, maternity, cardiology, orthopaedics, renal and other specialty services for children and adults. As part of our commitment to performing more elective surgery, in early 2014, we opened our eighth surgical theatre. The new theatre has allowed us to perform an average of 12-15 major cases to 40-50 minor operations each week. In late 2014, Logan Hospital opened our doors to a brand new multi-storey building as part of our $152.3M expansion project. The first stages of this project included a new co-located adult’s and children’s emergency department, an expanded children’s inpatient ward and a new 24-bed rehabilitation unit. A new cardiac catheter laboratory will also be built, allowing up to 800 local residents with heart conditions to be treated closer to home. Education As a teaching hospital, we help train future health care professionals and participate in research through strong partnerships with Queensland’s leading tertiary institutions. In the 2014-2015 financial year, there were: 60,803 patients admitted to the hospital 75,982 presentations to the emergency department 39,835 outpatient appointments 3,319 babies born. Logan Hospital employs more than 1921 staff, making it the largest employer in Logan City.
