Join a Health & Wellbeing class of Holistic Self Care techniques to learn the gently flowing intentional Mindful movements of Qigong, gentle Breathing, Meditation & self massage based on the beautiful Central Coast NSW Australia. Be “In Harmony” with your health & wellbeing through learning the flowing Mindful Movements of Qigong (pronounced: chee goong ) & Meditation. Combined with gentle breathing, these easy to learn mainly standing postures support & strengthen the body in returning to it’s natural balanced state of health (of yin/yang). Qi (or chi) is the life force energy that runs through everything, whilst Gong means practice. Qigong has been part of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) for over 6,000 years. Through the regular practice of allowing Qi to flow throughout the body without blockages (which cause illness & disease), Qigong helps to maintain your natural healthy & harmonious state, reducing stress & anxiety, detoxing, restoring energy & strengthening your physical body. The movements help you to connect with your body’s wisdom as you start to tune in & feel. Run by Mel Bean, who first discovered Qigong whilst recovering from her diagnosis of Breast Cancer in 2016, she has undergone practice with Master Lisa McEvoy & Practitioner Training from Qigong Master Simon Blow. After briefly trying Tai Chi, Melanie found that Qigong was a better fit being based on the flowing Self Care practices of TCM, rather than martial arts. Learn to prioritise your wellness. Feel empowered to take control of your own health & wellbeing by coming along to classes. My hope is for you to feel & know the incredible benefits as I've experienced for your Mind, Body & Breath. Classes are open to all ages & held on the beautiful Central Coast. Unlike yoga, there is no need to stretch/flex your body into uncomfortable postures but rather gently lengthen & feel into your own level of ability increasing slowly, softly & smoothly. Nothing but YOU 😊 Easy as! No equipment nor experience is needed for Qigong!

🧘‍♂️ During our mini meditation at the end of class, our cool down Yin time, we ask you to sit comfortably.

So if you prefer to meditate on a cushion, you’re welcome to bring your own. Chairs 🪑 are always supplied for your comfort or you can sit on the floor too.

And a throw or jacket 🧥 can be handy as we cool down during meditation too.

“What can I wear to Qigong?” 🤔
Loose comfy layers are ideal as we’re doing gentle movement & shifting energy too, so you may experience some temperature changes through the body. You may not notice anything at all, as it can be quite subtle & of course, also depends on the weather since we’re working with the environment around us.
So weather protection is also good to bring along - like a hat 🧢 sunnies 🕶️ scarf🧣 socks 🧦 etc And soft supple shoes are great 👞

If you prefer gym gear, wear that. It’s important to feel comfortable & be able to move around without feeling tight or restricted. We’re helping our body+mind to flow & circulate.

🧘‍♂️ During our mini meditation at the end of class, which is our cool down Yin time, it can be a great idea to bring along a throw or jacket 🧥 to keep your body warm.
And if you prefer to meditate on a cushion, you’re welcome to bring your own. Chairs are always supplied for your comfort or you can sit in the floor too.

“Do you need to be flexible or coordinated to do Qigong?” is a question I often get asked.

The answer = No not at all! Even I can’t touch my toes 👣 & never have as I have scoliosis.

The predominant styles of Qigong I do are called “Nurturing Life” (Yang Sheng) & Medical Qigong which are more gentle. They’re about tuning into how your body is feeling & moving accordingly. We always tell participants to move to your own body’s mobility, limitations, & comfort levels. In case of any serious health conditions or if you have high blood pressure or are pregnant, then movements are to be adjusted accordingly - such as only raising arms to no more than shoulder height.

Our classes always have chairs available in case you need a break too which is also always encouraged during the session.

Classes are all about slowing down, flowing & not forcing. This is the time out you need FOR you to release the stress from a safe place so you can enter into a flowing calm state. And I really believe that the medicine 💊 is in the SLOW 🐢

Also Qigong is done mainly standing so you’re not having to get up & down off the floor either.
