⬛ The post-exercise period is defined by Exercise-Induced Muscle Damage EIMD, characterized by soreness DOMS, inflammation, and a temporary drop in performance.
⬛ While ice baths and cryotherapy chambers have become staples in locker rooms worldwide, there has been significant debate regarding which temperature and method actually work best.
⬛ A new systematic review and network meta-analysis published in BMC Musculoskeletal Disorders 2024 analyzes data from over a thousand participants to rank these recovery strategies.
⬛ Here is what the study found.

📊 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝘁𝘂𝗱𝘆 𝗮𝘁 𝗮 𝗚𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲

⬛ Researchers conducted a network meta-analysis of 57 randomized controlled trials involving 1,220 healthy participants.
⬛ They compared four specific interventions against a passive control group rest:
🔹 Cold Water Immersion CWI: Submersion in water between 5°C and 15°C.
🔹 Contrast Water Therapy CWT: Alternating between hot >38°C and cold
