- Appropriately 5.5 million Australians live with a disability, representing about 21.4% of the population

- The likelihood of having a disability increases with age:

::: For those aged 15-64, the prevalence is around 13%

- The number and proportion of people with disability have increased since 2018

- The most common type of disability within Australia is physical disability, with musculoskeletal disorders and related conditions being the most frequently reported main health conditions

⚠️ Severe Heatwave Warning – Mackay region (Central Coast and Whitsundays)

A severe heat wave warning has been issued by the Bureau of Meteorology from Sunday, November 23 to Wednesday, November 26.

🥵Maximum temperatures in coastal areas are expected to be between the mid 30s to 40s, with overnight minimums in the mid to high 20s.

Conditions are expected to intensify and extend eastwards in the coming days.

Keep your cool by:

💧 Staying hydrated – aim for 6 - 8 glasses of water a day
🌤️ Stay out of the sun where possible
🕶️ If you need to go outside, be sun safe and seek shade
💪 Avoid or reduce strenuous activities
🏠 Keep cool indoors – shopping centres and libraries are great if you don’t have air-conditioning
💛 Check in on family, friends and neighbours
