Are you a mum who just needs 5 minutes to drink a hot coffee these Easter holidays? Same. 😅

This playdough activity has been saving me since my kids were tiny — and the nature treasure hunt beforehand is half the fun. Send them outside to collect leaves, sticks, rocks, petals, whatever they can find — then let them press it all into playdough and go make yourself that coffee. ☕

Sneaky teacher secret? Pressing objects into playdough builds the exact hand strength little ones need for writing. But they absolutely do not need to know that.

Here's something I wish more parents knew about how children actually learn best…

It's not sitting still. It's not copying from a board. And it's definitely not drilling flashcards until something sticks. 😅

It's called multisensory learning — and it's the foundation of everything we do at Absolutely 4 Kids.

When children use more than one sense at a time — touching, seeing, hearing, moving — their brain activates multiple pathways simultaneously. More pathways firing = deeper understanding = information that actually stays.

In our sessions, that looks like pushing counters to segment sounds, squishing playdough into syllables, and holding colourful number blocks and feeling how 3 and 7 really do make 10. It looks like visual support on the table and little hands busy doing real, meaningful work.

As a teacher AND a mum, I can tell you — this is the difference between a child who performs a skill in a session and forgets it by Friday, and one who genuinely gets it and carries it with them.

Psst… want to know our secret? 🎲

We use games. Like, a lot of games.

And yes, that's completely on purpose.

Because here's what I've learned as both a teacher AND a mum — the moment learning feels like work, little brains switch off. But the moment it feels like play?

They're all in. Eyes lit up, hands busy, asking to go again.

While they're rolling dice, picking cards, and trying to beat their own score, they're actually building literacy, numeracy, problem-solving, and the kind of confidence that makes them want to keep trying.

They don't realise how much is happening. And honestly? That's exactly the point. 🥰

That's the magic we create every single session at Absolutely 4 Kids.

And I’m looking for someone a little bit special to join the Absolutely 4 Kids family.

I’m 𝗞𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻 — teacher, mum of two (a very busy 3.5-year-old and his equally busy 1.5-year-old sister 😅), and founder of Absolutely 4 Kids. I’ve built this business around one core belief: confident children become lifelong learners. And now I need the right person to help me serve our families well while I step back a little from lesson delivery.

𝗛𝗲𝗿𝗲'𝘀 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗜'𝗺 𝗹𝗼𝗼𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗼𝗿:
A qualified teacher (or final-year Education student) who loves working with primary-aged kids, believes in building confidence before academics, and genuinely enjoys those “lightbulb moment” sessions.

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗿𝗼𝗹𝗲:
📍 Afternoon tutoring sessions — Monday to Thursday afternoons in Mackay
🕒 Flexible hours — could be as few as a couple of afternoons a week, or up to 15–20 hours if you’re also keen to support homeschooling families or run daytime sessions during school hours
📚 Small groups and one-on-one tutoring (Prep–Year 6)
🎯 Literacy and numeracy focus using evidence-based approaches
