It is never easy dealing with a person who has unprocessed inner work, lacks emotional regulation, and projects pain onto their loved ones. The constellation of emotions on the receiving end is potent and difficult to comprehend, especially when it is family. Their hostile armour is a barrier to a robust conversation. It manifests in their lived experience of keeping so many away. The truth eventually surfaces beyond the poison of accusations, shaming, and victimizing. Demanding an apology won't make them choose to understand their shadow, and neither will investing your energy into what provokes their rage. It can feel like a cloud that never shifts. Focus on your purpose, live your best life with a true heart, and remember it is not about you but them.

"A child can carry grief and burdens from the parent for many years, way into adulthood. What the parent feels, the child feels. The loyalties run deep. The child needs the parent more than the parent needs the child and will therefore take on their grief, their pain, their disappointments and their sufferings. When we give back to our parents what is not ours to carry, we take back our life and freedom, without their expectations, conditions or burdens. "

Families hold secrets. A baby born out of wedlock, exclusion of an uncle with mental illness, secret affairs of a parent, trauma or the murder of a grandparent. These events and dynamics from the past are driven by loyalties and deep entanglements which are subconscious in a person and are embedded in our body, organs, nervous system and our brain. They can make their way to the surface through a perculiar illness, rage, estranged family relationships, unhealthy attachments or exclusion. Unveiling the secret and going to the source unlocks the healing pathway bringing about deep shifts for a person.
