🎬 Fun Friday at the Movies! 🍿

Last Friday, staff from YIRS took a group of our young people out for a Fun Friday trip to the movies! This outing was a great opportunity for them to relax, enjoy a film, and spend time connecting with peers in a positive environment.

These activities help support their social and emotional wellbeing by creating safe spaces to bond, have fun, and take a break from everyday pressures.

We love seeing our young people smile, engage, and make meaningful memories. 💛

🎳 Out and About with YIRS!

Last Friday, staff from YIRS took some of our young people to the local bowling alley for a fun outing! This activity was designed to help build their social and emotional wellbeing while enjoying some friendly competition and laughter.

We love seeing our young people engage, connect, and have a great time outside of the usual routine. 💛

📣 We’re Looking for a Treasurer!

YIRS One Stop Youth Shop is seeking a passionate and community-minded individual to join our Management Committee as Treasurer.

If you have financial or bookkeeping experience, an eye for detail, and a desire to contribute to supporting young people in the Mackay region — we’d love to hear from you!

This is a volunteer position that plays an important role in guiding our organisation’s financial management and sustainability.

💼 Key skills:

Basic financial management or accounting knowledge

Good communication and organisational skills

Commitment to youth and community wellbeing

🌟 Career Pathways at Dalrymple Bay Coal Terminal 🌟

Last week we welcomed Scott, Mick, and Sharon from Dalrymple Bay Coal Terminal (DBCT) to YIRS One Stop Youth Shop! 🙌

They spoke with our young people about the wide range of career opportunities available at DBCT, including the different pathways into the industry, the importance of training, and the skills needed to succeed.

A big thank you to the DBCT team for sharing their time and knowledge – it was a great chance for our clients to hear firsthand about local employment options and future career possibilities. 💼✨
