Depending on the presentation, we may also needle or release tibialis posterior, flexor hallucis longus, and flexor digitorum longus all of which support the arch and can contribute to that heel pull and tension through the fascia.

Ever wonder why cupping marks appear in different colours? Some dark, some light, and some barely visible it’s always fascinating to see.

I don’t get too caught up in interpreting what each colour means, but it’s interesting how the shades often correspond to areas of imbalance or dysfunction.

Client case:
Chronic lower back pain (discogenic in nature, predominantly on the right side).
The right side is noticeably tighter and more sensitive, yet it produced almost no colour after cupping.

This can happen when circulation is limited due to chronic tightness or long-term muscle guarding. The lack of colour doesn’t mean there’s no issue it can actually suggest that blood flow hasn’t yet been fully restored to that area.

The body communicates in different ways sometimes it’s not what shows up, but what doesn’t.

When addressing trigger points, manual pressure can sometimes cause more surface discomfort and inflammation. Dry needling, however, allows me to target the muscle directly at its source helping it release more efficiently with less surrounding irritation.

Both techniques have their place, but combining them allows for faster recovery, improved range of motion, and longer lasting results.
