Strengthening cultural authority in vocational education is an important step in ensuring the ACCHO workforce is shaped by community context, sector experience and cultural integrity.
That’s why QAIHC welcomed 12 leaders from eight Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community-controlled organisations to the QAIHC office in Meanjin (Brisbane) for the first learning block of the Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, over 16–20 February.
Delivered in partnership with Blueprint Career Development RTO #30978, the program is designed to support experienced ACCHO staff to become qualified trainers and assessors, which strengthens the sector’s ability to lead workforce development.
Over an intensive five-day retreat, participants worked through key components of the qualification including:
🔸adult learning principles
🔸facilitation practice
🔸assessment design
🔸vocational education compliance requirements
QAIHC Workforce & Development Jurisdiction Manager Adam Stephen acknowledged the commitment of the participants and the support of their organisations in enabling them to step away from operational responsibilities to undertake training.
Adam also thanked Blueprint’s lead trainer Jenny, whose delivery challenged and supported the cohort, setting “a strong standard for what quality training partnerships can look like when aligned with sector needs.”
The cohort will return later this month to complete their final learning block.
