To keep all our updates in one place, allowing friends, family, residents and employees to see what goes on across all our care homes, we will be closing the Mareeba page at the end of April.

☘️ St Patrick’s Day at Mareeba ☘️

St Patrick’s Day truly went off with a bang at Mareeba! The day was filled with laughter, connection, and a touch of Irish magic. From lively Irish trivia to toe-tapping music, there was something for everyone to enjoy.

Our residents were treated to a beautiful luncheon, prepared by Leizel and her incredible kitchen team — a feast that brought everyone together and made the day extra special.

A heartfelt thank you to our Wellbeing & Lifestyle team for creating such a vibrant atmosphere, from set up to pack down and everything in between. And to our dedicated AINs, thank you for your ongoing support in preparing residents and assisting throughout the day — your care never goes unnoticed.

There was joy and a little Irish flair.

Over the past six weeks, our residents have enjoyed a wonderful variety of outings, with a total of 15 bus trips taking place. These trips have included relaxing visits to the beach, enjoyable pub lunches, scenic drives through the local area, and lovely morning tea outings.

Each outing has provided residents with the opportunity to socialise, enjoy a change of scenery, and make the most of the beautiful community around us. It has certainly been a busy and rewarding few weeks filled with laughter, conversation, and many memorable moments. 🚍☀️

🐣 Easter Raffle 2026! 🐰

Our Easter raffle is here! Tickets are available now at the coffee shop, with all proceeds going directly toward purchasing resources and activities for our residents.

Recently, we celebrated our bi-monthly birthday party for residents with birthdays in January and February. It was a wonderful morning filled with plenty of chatter, laughter, music, and a delicious spread of birthday treats. A lovely time was shared by all as we celebrated our residents and their special occasions together. 🎉

Aussie, Aussie, Aussie… Oi! Oi! Oi! 🇦🇺

We love Australia, and we love a good celebration at Mareeba! Our residents enjoyed a wonderful Australia Day filled with laughter, connection, and true blue Aussie spirit.

A heartfelt thank you to bush poet Bob Faulkner for generously sharing his time and talents with our residents — your storytelling and poetry brought so much joy to the day.

We’re also incredibly grateful to our AINs and GSOs who ensured residents could attend and be supported throughout the celebrations. Your care and teamwork never go unnoticed.

The celebrations continued the following day with Australia Day trivia, dress-ups, and a full in-house BBQ. A big thank you to our amazing kitchen team, AINs, wellbeing and lifestyle, and GSOs — many hands truly do make light work.

This is why we love Mareeba — our people, our residents, and the strong sense of community that makes moments like these so special 💛

💪🌞 Daily Exercise at Mareeba

Our residents love starting the day with movement, and our daily exercise sessions are a wonderful way to energise both body and mind. Guided and supported by our Wellbeing & Lifestyle team, these sessions are tailored to suit all abilities, ensuring everyone can participate safely and confidently.

Daily exercise provides so many positive benefits for our residents, including improved mobility and strength, better balance and flexibility, enhanced mood and mental wellbeing, increased circulation, and support for overall independence. Just as importantly, it encourages social connection, routine, and a positive start to the day filled with smiles and laughter.

A little movement goes a long way in supporting healthy ageing at Mareeba 💙

👩‍🍳🍞 Cooking Club with Our Resident Chefs!

Every second Monday, our Cooking Club brings residents together for a hands-on, heart-warming experience alongside our talented chef Cay Lei, supported by our wonderful Wellbeing & Lifestyle Assistants.

This week, the kitchen was filled with laughter, familiar aromas, and plenty of smiles as we baked fresh scones together. From mixing and shaping to tasting the finished treats, our residents were actively involved every step of the way—creating not just delicious food, but meaningful moments and cherished memories.

Cooking Club offers so many wonderful benefits for our residents, including strengthening social connections, encouraging independence, stimulating memory through familiar recipes, enhancing fine motor skills, and boosting confidence and wellbeing. Most importantly, it brings joy, purpose, and that comforting feeling of home. 💛

We can’t wait for our next Cooking Club session!

There’s something special about sunshine on your face, fresh air in your lungs and the simple joy of being outdoors. Our residents have been loving their time in the garden this summer, soaking up the warmth, sharing conversations, and enjoying moments of calm and connection.

Spending time outside offers so many benefits for our residents — boosting mood, encouraging gentle movement, supporting better sleep, and providing sensory stimulation through sights, sounds and scents of nature. It’s also a beautiful way to spark memories, conversations and a sense of wellbeing.

Sometimes, it’s the simple moments that make the biggest difference 🌸🌞

🍹🀄 Happy Hour & Hoi 🀄🍹 – Facebook Post

What better way to bring people together than Happy Hour and a game of Hoi!

Our residents enjoyed an afternoon filled with laughter, friendly competition and a well-earned drink while playing this much-loved game. Activities like this aren’t just about fun (although there was plenty of that!) – they support social connection, stimulate the mind and create meaningful moments together.

The room was buzzing with conversation, smiles and the occasional victory cheer, proving once again that it’s the simple pleasures that make the biggest difference 💛
