Non-disabled people can, and should, advocate for disability rights, and here are a few simple ways to do this:

🟢 Listen to the lived experiences of people with disabilities
🟢 Learn about ableism and how it impacts the daily lives of people with disabilities
🟢 Challenge ableist ideas and discrimination
🟢 Incorporate habits into your life that support people with disabilities
🟢 Vote with inclusion and accessibility in mind
🟢 Help campaign for accessibility in your community
🟢 Follow other disability advocates and creators
🟢 Support and include the people living with disabilities in your life

Incorporating even a few of these ideas into your life can and will make a difference in the lives of those living with disabilities. This is your sign to begin advocating for disability rights today!

At connexion_one, we focus on disability support with a difference - we link you up with peers and mentors, including people with lived experience themselves of disability and mental health, and that is why we name our disability support unit, ‘peer_connexion’.

We link you with peer workers and mentors based on what ‘peer’ means to you - this could be age, gender, disability, sexuality, community, culture and/or things you like to do.

Are you ready to be connected with peers? Contact us today!

🌿 We love spending time in nature with our participants, and what better way to extend that experience than by bringing nature into our homes?

Our recent visit to Virginia Nursery gave us the opportunity to select a variety of plants, helping us carry the calm, mindfulness, and beauty of the natural world into our everyday spaces. And for the adventurous interior decorator, perhaps a not-so-natural gorilla to bring some whimsy and joy to the everyday! 🐒

Virginia Nursery really does have something for everyone, we will for sure be back!

Supporting a friend with a disability starts with intention and empathy. Here are three simple ways that you can show up for your friend with a disability:

📚 Seek out education: Learn about their experiences from reliable sources, not assumptions - most importantly, speak to your friend and actually listen. Listening and learning go a long way.

♿ Be an accessibility advocate: Speak up when spaces, events, or conversations aren’t inclusive. Access benefits everyone.

🤝 Offer practical assistance: Ask what practical support looks like for them and respect their answer. Small actions can make a big difference.

True connection is built on understanding, respect, and showing up.

This month, remember to:
🦒 spend time with animals - caring for, and interacting with animals, promotes mindfulness and reduces stress.
💬 limit negative self-talk - make a conscious effort to replace harsh thoughts with kinder ones.
🧘 recognise fatigue - listen to your body when it tells you it's time to rest.
🌿 spend time outside - soak up the last days of summer, fresh air and sunlight have incredible mood-boosting effects!

Caring for your physical and mental health doesn’t need to feel overwhelming. With a few simple tips and consistent effort, you’ll be surprised by how much positive change will come.

Make sure to check back next month for more healthy tips!

More than half of people who could benefit from support and treatment, going without help they deserve.

This gap is often made worse by delayed detection and challenges in receiving an accurate diagnosis. Unlike physical health conditions, mental health concerns are still too often missed, misunderstood, or left untreated for far too long.

In fact, people experiencing mental illness are only about half as likely to access treatment compared to those with physical health conditions. These numbers are a powerful reminder of why awareness, early intervention, and accessible mental health support matter.

If you or someone you care about needs support, reaching out to the friendly team at connexion_one can be the first step toward change. 💚

A great Support Coordinator helps turn complex plans into clear, well-managed supports.

They stay organised, manage time effectively, and make sure nothing falls through the cracks. From tracking funding and deadlines to coordinating services and follow-ups, strong organisational skills ensure your supports are set up correctly and delivered when you need them.

Good time management means plans are implemented promptly, issues are addressed early, and participants aren’t left waiting or chasing answers. It’s this attention to detail and structured approach that keeps supports aligned, funding on track, and progress moving forward with confidence.

Are you looking for a Support Coordinator who’s reliable, organised, and proactive? We’d love to hear from you, call us today:📱 (08) 8331 0047

One of our favourite things to do with participants is getting out into the community and exploring everything Adelaide has to offer - and this was a truly iconic Adelaide experience!

Melba’s Chocolate Factory in the Adelaide Hills is just a short drive from the CBD, making it the perfect day trip. We had an amazing time exploring the factory and sampling their wide range of delicious chocolates and sweets. 🍫✨
