The holidays don’t need to be perfect or overwhelming. This month, remember:

❌ You can give yourself permission to say "no" - declining plans can preserve your energy and reduce stress.
🎉 Festivities don’t need to be expensive - a hand-made gift or card can be so much more meaningful.
🛀 Take time to relax and recharge - carve out quiet moments for yourself during the holiday hustle and bustle.
🤝 Check in on your friends. This time of year is difficult for so many - a quick message or call can make a big difference.

Focus on a few simple, kind-to-yourself habits, and you’ll feel more present and joyful this season!

Today on International Day of Persons with Disabilities, we honour every incredible person in the connexion_one community.

✨ You bring strength, resilience, creativity, kindness, and you remind us what true community looks like.

We love this year’s theme of "fostering disability‑inclusive societies for advancing social progress" because we stand for belonging, equity, and a world where everyone’s voice matters.

To all our participants, families, carers, supporters and allies: thank you for being part of creating an inclusive community. Let’s continue building inclusive spaces, where opportunities, support, and respect are available to everyone.

Check out these stunning scenery shots from a day of nature, movement, and connection at Morialta Conservation Park! 🌿

With its wide gravel path, short boardwalk section, and accessible facilities, the Morialta Falls Valley walk is a great option for wheelchair users, and anyone wanting a relaxed stroll in nature.

The sound of the falls, fresh air, and shared smiles made for a peaceful and uplifting day. Nature truly has a way of refreshing the body, mind, and spirit.

It's great to have our team members, Dorothy, Jodie and Tracey, in Brisbane for the National Disability Services Executive Leaders Conference.

It’s been an inspiring couple of days for them, hearing from incredible presenters, all highlighting the importance of quality providers in our sector.

They have genuinely enjoyed being part of these conversations and are excited to bring some valuable insights back to the connexion_one team.

Feeling energised and ready to put new ideas into action!

Around 45% of Australians aged 16 to 85 will experience a mental illness at some point in their life - that’s nearly 1 in 2 of us.

This reminds us how important it is to talk openly about mental health, seek support when we need it, and show compassion to those around us.

Together, we can share open, genuine conversations and create a community where everyone feels seen, heard, and supported.

Why is taking care of your mental health so important?

#3 - Mental health increases productivity and learning 💡

When your mind feels well and balanced, it’s easier to think clearly, stay focused, and tap into your creativity. Good mental health supports memory, problem-solving, and motivation, helping you thrive in both work and learning environments.

When you prioritise your mental wellbeing, you give yourself the space to grow, create, and achieve your goals with confidence and clarity.

This is part 3 in our 5-part series on why mental health matters. Stay tuned for reason number 4!

Invisible disabilities - like chronic pain, autism, ADHD, anxiety, or sensory processing disorders - can deeply affect daily life, even when they can’t be seen.

People living with invisible disabilities may face challenges with concentration, energy, communication, or navigating sensory environments, even when they “look fine” on the outside. Unfortunately, these hidden challenges can lead to misunderstandings, such as assumptions that someone is “lazy” “rude” or “not trying hard enough”.

It’s easy to misunderstand what we can’t see, but small acts of understanding make a big difference:
✨ Believe people’s experiences
✨ Be patient and flexible
✨ Create inclusive, welcoming spaces

At connexion_one, we’re proud to support and celebrate the unique strengths of every individual.

🦒 Spending time with animals and in nature is more than just fun - it’s a boost for our wellbeing! Being around animals can lower stress, lift our mood, and help us feel more present and connected.

Our recent visit to the Adelaide Zoo was filled with laughter, learning, and plenty of moments to pause and appreciate the incredible wildlife that shares our world.

A great Support Coordinator doesn’t just understand the NDIS, they understand people.

They listen deeply, show genuine care, and take the time to truly get to know each participant’s story, strengths, and challenges.

Empathy allows them to see beyond the paperwork - to notice when someone’s having a tough day, to celebrate the small wins, and to offer encouragement when things feel overwhelming.

It’s this compassion that builds trust, strengthens relationships, and ensures that your support services are relevant and effective.

Looking for a Support Coordinator who genuinely cares? We'd love to hear from you.

This month remember to:

🌼 Start your mornings mindfully - Take five quiet, technology-free minutes before the day begins to stretch, journal, or simply breathe. A calm start can set the tone for a more focused, positive day.
🥗 Refresh your meals - As the weather warms up, swap out heavier dishes for light, fresh options like grain bowls, fruit-filled salads, or wraps. Your body (and energy levels) will thank you.
🌻 Declutter - Before the year ends, review what’s working and what’s not, whether that's habits, commitments, even digital clutter. Clear out and let go of the clutter!
🎧 Create a “feel-good” playlist - Music is a powerful mood shifter. Find songs that make you feel energised, calm, or motivated and play them during your morning routine
