SOCIAL ENERGY 'IN"

This is our stress/recovery wheel we use for students in our course. Today, we are focusing on social recovery 'in'. For all of the stress that depletes us (red), we need to match it with recovery (green). If you are feeling a bit isolated today or even the past few days, here are a few tips we use to get social recovery 'in' to balance the depletion:

* If you are at work, make a surprise cup of tea of coffee for your team mate and take it to their desk
*send three messages (emails or texts) to three friends or family members, just checking in on how they are going
*arrange a lunch with someone you like or love
*smile at every person you meet - regardless of whether you like them or not : )

These might seem like they are benefiting the 'other' person, but trust me, they are actually a very strong social energy 'in' for you. Humans need love and connection. Choose your social energy 'in' today and watch the result for both of you : )

How are you looking after your mental, emotional, social, environmental and physical energy today? Are you out of balance? Energy is constantly moving and flowing. I do love a good ted talk but this one actually brought me to tears. This young lady nailed what I had considered to be a my own personality failure. An inability to stick to one thing. She calls us 'multipotentialites'. A word to describe those of use who don't have 'one purpose', one specialist skill. Those of us who thrive on new ideas and adventures (not always finishing them as we might feel stagnant). We always look for new ideas and ways to do things but get reprimanded for being monumental 'non-completers'. In our Energy Health Performance program, we cover a LOT of ground. Mental, Emotional, Social, Physical, Environmental aspects of health and wellbeing. We unpack how your brain works, we cover all 11 systems of the body. From how and why we think, to how we function. We look at your habits, patterns, history. It's all in there. But more than that, we get interested in 'stress'. Stress as both an 'energy out' and 'energy in', as both helpful and unhelpful. As part of our course, we include this incredible ted talk from Kelly McGonigal highlighting how to see stress in a very different light. Please take the time to watch this masterpiece, in this time of high pressure, workload and fatigue.
