This week in our BabyROO classes we are discussing vision — one of the most important senses babies use on their learning adventure. Seeing is called SIGHT and understanding what is seen is called VISION.
Visual development involves the whole body: babies learn to see and understand by looking, listening, touching, moving and exploring.
As babies wiggle, reach, grasp, roll and play, their visual skills strengthen. Movement experiences help them develop eye muscles, tracking skills, depth perception, hand–eye coordination and the ability to make sense of what they see. Even simple activities like tummy time, following moving objects, exploring different textures, or reaching for colourful toys support healthy visual development.
Parents play a key role too — talking, singing, offering interesting things to look at, and giving babies safe opportunities to move all help their little brains connect sight with understanding.
As always, there’s more information on your Parent Portal, which is included in your term fees.
