The Mai-Wel Group is a National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) registered provider supporting people with disability and the wider community since 1960. Mai-Wel LabourForce Solutions is a specialist employment service, assisting people with disability, youth, people with mental illness and mature-aged job seekers to achieve their employment goals. We are a Workforce Australia Employment Services Provider and are contracted to deliver government employment services. Content does not necessarily represent the views of the Department of Education, Skills and Employment. Mai-Wel Enterprises are businesses which employ people with a disability to undertake meaningful work to provide a range of products and services including timber crates and pallets, light engineering, document destruction, rag cutting, product assembly, mail outs, printing and promotional products... plus much more!

Tori’s confidence is on the rise at Maitland MMA & Premier Fitness Centre Rutherford💪

Since starting at Premier Fitness about a year ago, Tori has put in the work to grow her skills, independence and attention to detail.

On a recent support shift, the difference was clear. Tori knew her tasks, checked her own work to a high standard and asked for minimal guidance. She was a friendly face for staff and gym patrons, offering encouragement and a warm hello.

This progress highlights how Tori is maintaining ongoing employment, building her wellbeing and working toward personal goals, including living independently and saving for a sausage dog. Her big goal is to one day work without support, and she is well on her way!

Today we celebrated International Day of People with Disability, standing proudly alongside our community to champion inclusion, visibility, and opportunity.

With the support of a committed organising committee, we brought together providers from across our region to showcase the incredible work they do — each playing a vital role in creating a more accessible and connected Hunter.

We were honoured to have Rae Anderson, Paralympian and Mai-Wel Ambassador, open the day and set the tone for what became a vibrant celebration of talent, strength, and lived experience.

The event featured engaging displays, panel discussions, hands-on activities and plenty of moments of genuine connection. The atmosphere was warm, supportive and full of possibility — a true reflection of what happens when community comes together.

Here’s to continuing the work, every day, to ensure people with disability have the opportunities, environments and respect they deserve. 💜🧡

🎄 What an incredible day at the 2025 Newcastle Business Club Christmas Luncheon yesterday!

We were proud to be this year’s Charity Partner and to bring some festive fun through our Christmas Bauble Raffle and Live Auction!

Thanks to the generosity of attendees and the amazing businesses who donated prizes, we raised almost $11,000 in support of our new Thrive Café ☕🤎

Every contribution, whether it was purchasing a bauble, bidding in the auction or donating prizes, helps us create meaningful training and employment opportunities for people with disability in Maitland. Your support will make a real and lasting impact as Thrive Café continues to grow.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who took part, cheered on the auction, purchased a bauble and shared in the spirit of giving. We are grateful for the support of the Newcastle Business Club and the wider Hunter community who made the day such a success.

Today is International Day of People with Disability 🎉

This day is all about celebrating inclusion, recognising the strengths and achievements of people with disability, and continuing the push for accessible and connected communities.

At Mai-Wel, we’re proud to support people to build skills, confidence and opportunities every day. Inclusion happens when communities come together, and we value the role our participants, families, staff and partners play in making this possible.

We’ll be out and about today, joining the local community in Gillieston Heights at the Hunter Valley IDPWD event, and we’re looking forward to connecting with everyone who comes along.

🏊 Emma has been embracing the sunshine at Lambton Pool, exploring the splash pads and enjoying time in the water.

🌊 Bill and Ethan spent some time in Newcastle, enjoying a waterfront walk, fresh sea air and a refreshing dip in the ocean baths.
