Today we wrapped up our final Leadership Forum for the year with a Christmas theme and a chance to reflect on everything weโ€™ve tackled together in 2025.

From major shifts across the organisation to huge wins through Inclusive Employment Australia, team growth, and staff movements โ€” every part of Mai-Wel has contributed to an extraordinary year of impact.

We're incredibly grateful for the effort, energy, and heart our people bring every single day.

Hereโ€™s to an even bigger, bolder, and better 2026. ๐ŸŽ„โœจ

John has been building confidence and communication on the job at voco Kirkton Park Hunter Valley๐ŸŒฟ

With encouragement and on-the-job coaching, he recently learned to use a whipper snipper for the first time. After a quick demonstration from the maintenance supervisor, John started and operated the equipment safely and confidently, adding a new skill to support the garden team.

This is a proud step toward greater independence at work, and a great example of how the right support helps to build valuable workplace skills.

A big thank you to voco Kirkton Park Hunter Valley for being a supportive partner and creating opportunities for hands-on learning.

๐Ÿ  Did you know people with disability are 4 times more likely to rent from public housing than those without disability?

16% of renters with disability live in state or territory housing, compared to just 4% of renters without a disability (AIWH).

This proves how critical affordable, accessible housing is to building independence and inclusion.

At Mai-Wel, we remain committed to creating opportunities that break down barriers and support people with disability to live full, independent lives.

We recently received a heartfelt message from a parent whose young person is supported through both our Social, Community and Creative Pathways and Mai-Wel Academy programs.

They shared how proud they are to see him growing in confidence, enjoying activities, making friendships and feeling more connected in the community.

These moments mean so much to families, and we are grateful to play a small part in supporting young people as they build independence, form friendships and work towards their goals.

Thank you to our dedicated teams who make these experiences possible, and to our families for sharing their journey with us ๐Ÿ’™

It's been a big week for the Mai-Wel Employment Services team, launching new sites across Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, Port Stephens and the Upper Hunter!

This expansion is part of the transition from Disability Employment Services to Inclusive Employment Australia, an initiative that will provide people with disability, injury or health conditions to find and sustain meaningful work.

For 65 years, Mai-Wel has walked alongside people in our region to open doors and create opportunity. Today we build on that legacy in these new locations.

We look forward to building more relationships in these communities and supporting local people into employment!

Check out whatโ€™s been happening across our community โœจ

Sue spent time in the kitchen baking a chocolate cake with support from staff. She measured, mixed and decorated with care from start to finish. The activity supported her goals around life skills, following steps, fine motor practice and confidence in the kitchen ๐Ÿฐ

Mark leaned into his passion for photography and took a step toward doing things on his own. With a little support, he visited Officeworks and used the photo printer himself to bring his shots to life. That choice aligned with his goals around community participation, using technology in real settings and building independence ๐Ÿ“ธ

Weโ€™re proud to see these skills growing and our participants building confidence every day.
