We've seen some big achievements from Charlie 🔥

Charlie’s growth has been clear in recent weeks as part of the Mai-Wel Enterprises Cleaning Team. His work stamina and endurance have lifted, his skills are expanding, and his positive attitude shows up in every session.

He is now taking initiative, finishing one job and moving straight to the next with independence and pride.

This is what happens when the right support meets the right environment. Keep going, Charlie, you are smashing it🌟

Mini Woolies Program wraps up an outstanding term 🛒✨

Our latest Mini Woolies group finished the term strong, with participants building retail confidence in our training store!

With support from Jess at Atwea College: Registration Code 90020 and our team members Kristal and Dani, they learned money handling, customer service, communication, store presentation and POS, while working toward nationally recognised skill sets.

What they told us:
🔹 “I really like the activities.” - Alex
🔹 “I like doing the prac.” - Tristian
🔹 “I enjoy learning new things and meeting new people.” - Caylan
🔹 “I like learning more skills.” - Mia

Well done to the whole team for the effort and encouragement shown every session 👏

Morning by the coast with Dale 🌊

Dale recently enjoyed morning tea at the Nobby’s Beach kiosk, then walked to the end of the lighthouse breakwall!

Along the way he worked toward one of his goals by safely collecting cans and bottles to donate to charities, with support in place for sorting and safety ♻️

On the return trip he practised walking on the sand along the shoreline back to the surf club, building confidence, balance and stamina in a real community setting. Well done, Dale!

Ruth has been making the most of the festive season out in the community🎄✨

She has loved trying different foods while out, catching up with friends and soaking up the joyful atmosphere. Visits to the markets and the Christmas displays have added something extra to her outings, with colourful lights and decorations making each trip feel special.

These experiences are building confidence, supporting social connection and keeping community participation front and centre. Well done Ruth, we love seeing you enjoy this time of year🌟

Our Open Art Studio wrapped up the year with a creative flourish 🎨

Participants worked together to build a collaborative gingerbread house, with each artist designing a panel to bring the final piece to life.

A standout feature was the Vincent-inspired “Starry Night” windows, adding a magical glow to the display.

Our artists wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and are excited for a calendar full of amazing art opportunities in the new year 🎄✨

Our participants enjoyed an evening of twinkling lights and festive cheer at the Hunter Valley Gardens Christmas Lights Spectacular 🎄✨

They strolled through colourful light tunnels, explored beautifully lit gardens and took time to discover the new displays. They shared favourite moments with friends and support staff and captured plenty of photos along the way 📸

The weather held up, which made the walk comfortable and the experience even more memorable!

It was a joyful outing that brought people together to celebrate the season and enjoy our local community. We are already looking forward to the next visit 🌟

Wayne recently celebrated his 60th birthday with his family, supported by his Mai-Wel support worker, at the Bradford Hotel 🥳

He enjoyed a pizza dinner, opened several thoughtful gifts and finished the evening with a birthday cake to mark the milestone 🎂 🎁

On the way home, Wayne said how much of a great time he had!

At Mai-Wel, moments like this matter. We support people to celebrate in ways that reflect their interests, choices and the things that bring them joy, helping each person experience occasions to their full potential.

A wonderful celebration for a very special birthday 🎉

🎨 Our Arts for All group visited the Singleton Arts and Cultural Centre to explore “sensorial”, an exhibition of interactive works designed to be touched and played with.

The team spent time experimenting with textures, movement and sound, chatting with staff about the artists’ ideas and how each piece invited different kinds of sensory engagement.

Trips like this help participants build confidence in public gallery settings, practise communication and decision making, and experience art in a way that is accessible and hands on. It was a creative day out that blended learning, inclusion and plenty of fun ✨

Thank you to Singleton Arts + Cultural Centre for the warm welcome!
