Starting your recovery journey can feel overwhelming, but you don't have to face it alone. At flexed, we understand that every step forward matters, whether you're dealing with chronic pain, recovering from surgery, or working through a sports injury.

Osteoporosis and Exercise

Osteoporosis is a condition where your bones become weak and fragile, increasing the risk of fractures. 🦴To prevent this condition or delay the progression, staying active and doing weight-bearing exercises can help. πŸ’ͺ

Regular exercise can help strengthen your muscles and bones, improve balance to prevent falls, and maintain mobility.πŸƒβ€β™€οΈ Walking can be a good starting point for those with osteoporosis as each step is an impact for your bones and this strengthens them, but you will quickly need to move on to more vigorous exercises with greater impact.πŸšΆβ€β™€οΈ Pilates can also help with strength and balance.

Weight training using free weights or resistance bands is also recommended a few times a week. πŸ‹οΈβ€β™€οΈThis type of exercise applies force to your bones and stimulates your body to produce more bone mass.πŸ‹οΈβ€β™‚οΈ

For those with osteoporosis, consult your Physiotherapist before beginning an exercise regime to ensure you are using proper form to reduce risk of injury. But remember, staying active and exercising is key to managing osteoporosis and living your best life. πŸ’ͺ
