All of our trained staff promote independence and active citizenship through a person centred approach. The community program also offers individuals choice of opportunities and complements the accommodation program. The Community program design is once again based on the person-centred approach. This program runs five days a week with evenings and weekends available for after hours community access. The program runs from a purpose designed facility near the Administration Office on Anstruther Road, Mandurah. This facility is used as an adjunct to all community based activities and often facilitates cooking, art, pet therapy, and drama with community based facilitators. Many of these sessions are open to other interested parties from within the community. Diversity South prides itself on the ability of the individuals we support and our staff to participate in community events giving time and energy to support the cancer council by hosting a Biggest Morning Tea and entering a Relay for Life team combined of the individuals we support and staff. Individuals and staff also participate in community events such as Bandanna Day, Loud Shirt Day, World Disability Day and many others giving everyone a sense of giving to the community in which we live.
