Behind every behaviour, there’s a message - our job is to understand it.
North Melbourne our behaviour support team is here for you.
At the Centre for Positive Behaviour Support (CPBS), we take the time to understand what’s really going on underneath the behaviour. Our approach is respectful, practical and grounded in evidence, with one clear goal: improving quality of life for the person and the people around them.
Positive Behaviour Support can help by:
• Understanding what’s driving behaviour
• Building communication and everyday skills
• Supporting families, schools and care teams
• Reducing the need for restrictive practices
We work closely with families, support coordinators and local services across North Melbourne and nationwide. If you’re curious, exploring options, or just want to chat things through, we'd love to chat with you.

Our team specialise in disability and neurodivergence, and we also welcome neurotypical people who are looking for clarity, understanding or next steps. Our CPBS Psychology team understand the small but meaningful nuances that help people feel safe, heard and respected.
If you’re unsure whether a psychology assessment is right for you, your child or someone you support, we’re here to talk through it in simple, down‑to‑earth language.
We recently got to spend the day together in Melbourne for our annual leadership meeting, and it was such a good reminder of why we love the work we do.
One of the highlights? These brilliant T‑shirts created in-house with the message “Don’t reduce me to ABC” and the MEBS Framework underneath.
They sparked great conversations and our leadership team absolutely loved them.
The day was filled with honest chats about leadership, grounding ourselves back in our values, and brainstorming some exciting ideas for what’s ahead.
Grateful for time together, shared purpose, and a team that really cares

Behind the scenes with our Adelaide team at this year’s International Women’s Day event!
A huge highlight for our team was hearing Esther Simbi speak on her journey through polio, displacement, motherhood, and advocacy. It was nothing short of extraordinary. Her honesty about disability, racism, relationships, and rebuilding life in a new country left a lasting impact on all of us.
We’re proud to keep learning from voices that challenge, inspire, and remind us why caring is a matter of action.
Thank you Kismet Community Tania Gomez Consulting for hosting such an amazing event and Esther Simbi Author for having such a lasting impression for our team

Ever wished you could ask a behaviour expert anything? Now you can!
Jenna is dropping into Werribee Gymnastics Club to chat with families, answer your questions, and support what matters most to you and your child.
This is a flexible drop‑in opportunity rather than a structured 3‑hour event. Families are welcome to stop by at any time for guidance or discussion.
This relaxed session is shaped entirely around your family’s needs, big feelings, confidence, routines, transitions, and everything in between.
If it matters to your child’s wellbeing, we’ll talk about it. 💛

International Women’s Day is an opportunity to reflect on fairness, opportunity, and respect, both in our workplaces and in the wider community.
In behaviour support and disability services, women make up a large proportion of the workforce. Their expertise, leadership, and dedication are central to the work we do every day supporting people to live meaningful lives.
At CPBS, we believe opportunities and leadership should always be shaped by capability, experience, and the impact people make, not gender.
Creating an equitable workplace means supporting people to grow, valuing different perspectives, and ensuring everyone feels recognised for the work they do.
Today is a chance to acknowledge the incredible women across our organisation and the sector more broadly who contribute their knowledge, compassion, and professionalism every day.
Equality isn’t something we recognise once a year, it’s something we commit to through our actions.

Our QLD team shared their favourite “go‑to” resources this week, and we wanted to pass two of them on to you!
⏰ Visual countdown timers: perfect for supporting waiting, transitions, and smoother routines.
🌻 Sunflower lanyards: a globally recognised way to signal invisible disabilities and access extra support, especially when travelling.
What tools or resources do you love? Share them in the comments with us so we can keep building our list!

At CPBS, we believe in a person-centred approach. That means we tailor our programs to the needs of the person. We do not expect the person to conform to the pre-set structure of our program. We use a strengths-based approach when designing each person’s individualised programme.
We use a multi-element model, incorporating the best from PBS, ABA and Educational Theory. We believe in taking the strengths from these approaches and combining them to create a powerhouse program to enhance the person’s learning and development.
This specialises in person-centred support, giving the focus person and their families a holistic support. We specialise in complex behavioural support needs via our multi-element framework, inclusive of non-linear behavioural assessment, multi-element Positive Behaviour Support Plan, implementation, training, evaluation and troubleshooting.
At CPBS we believe people are happiest having fun and feeling successful. We design programs to develop individual strengths, build support networks and make strong lasting relationships.
