This week SW Kelly and Mr. W got into the Christmas spirit and baked some ginger bread cookies. SW Shakira and Mr. D took in some sightseeing for a lovely social day.

For the first time in 25 years, the Disability Parking Permit Scheme has been updated to help more South Australians access parking support.

✅ Includes people who are legally blind (as passengers)
✅ Supports people with significant cognitive, behavioural or neurological conditions
✅ Changed physical mobility impairment criteria

The changes started on Monday, 24 November 2025. You can apply via www.sa.gov.au/topics/driving-and-transport/disability/disability-parking-permit/apply or call Service SA on 13 10 84.

Shining Star Support Services currently has availability to welcome new NDIS and My Aged Care participants. Our mental health mentor also has openings. Our staff are experienced, qualified and have all their clearances. We’re a locally owned business based in Mannum, supporting participants in Mannum, Murray Bridge, and surrounding areas. If you have an NDIS plan that is plan-managed or self-managed, or a My Aged Care package and need assistance, please reach out for a chat.

SW Cheryl supported Miss C on her holiday away to Robe last week. Beautiful weather allowed lots of walking and exploring. The ladies were lucky to spot some local wildlife as well as the beautiful coastline.

It’s Invisible Disabilities Week (19–25 October)! 🌻

Around 80–85% of people with a disability have one that isn’t visible. These include neurological, cognitive, sensory, mental health, and chronic conditions that aren’t always immediately apparent.

Not all disabilities are visible — but a little understanding and kindness can go a long way in making everyone feel seen and supported.
