Susan has been providing support and counselling services for children, youth, adults and couples for 11 years both face to face and through crisis telephone counselling. Susan is dedicated to helping clients create and achieve their long term goals and to developing rewarding relationships. Susan does this first and foremost by acknowledging that no two people are alike. Each person interprets language according to their personal experience of the world. Susan provides her clients the opportunity to examine the parts of their life where they are uncertain as well as celebrate the areas where they excel. Working from successes as well as exploring the behaviours, attitudes and beliefs that limit her clients in a respectful supportive way is how Susan assists people to take steps forward on their chosen path. In life rarely do people have the opportunity to be heard without interruption or other people’s expectations. Family or friends are likely to be emotionally involved and have opinions and biases this is often detrimental to the person moving forward. In this safe, confidential environment clients explore the many and varied aspects of their life (and early childhood where appropriate) by being able to speak openly and freely. This respectful space allows the client the opportunity to express difficult feelings such as anger, resentment, guilt and fear. Examining previously difficult or impossible to face experiences (without judgement) leads to new life choices. Effective counselling is not advice-giving and is not acting on someone else's behalf (these are more the roles of a life coach). Effective counselling benefits clients by:
• reducing confusion;
• allowing the client to make effective decisions that lead to positive changes in their attitude and/or behaviour;
Susan’s ultimate aim is that through the counselling process her clients gain empowerment, have the confidence to discern what is right for them, make their own choices and move forward to have the life and relationships they deserve. Hey you! 🌟
So today is R U Ok day, it’s a great idea to check in on other’s and ask them how they are truly going. It’s also a good idea to ‘check in’ with ourselves and ask how we are going. Are we we going great? average? Or could we do with some support? 🌞

On R U Okay day it is also a good idea to think about how we are treating others…because if we are being an as***le that is definitely going to directly impact if someone else is okay.

At the end of the day we should care about how our behaviour affects others.

It is important to treat other people with kindness, compassion and respect and if you can’t be nice maybe try being silent. 😉

Today, 10th September 2025, marks World Su***de Prevention Day. This year's theme is ‘Changing the Narrative on Su***de’.

Changing the narrative on su***de is about transforming how we perceive this complex issue. It’s about shifting from a culture of silence and lack of understanding to one of openness, empathy, and support.

Changing the narrative on su***de aims to inspire individuals, communities, organisations, and governments to engage in open and honest discussions about su***de and suicidal behaviour. By initiating these vital conversations, we can break down barriers, raise awareness, and create better cultures of understanding and support.

If you, or someone known to you, needs support please reach out to a trusted person, a crisis line, your GP, or present to a Medicare Mental Health Centre.

"Say, Pooh, why aren't you busy?" I said.
"Because it's a nice day," said Pooh.
"Yes, but ---"
"Why ruin it?" he said.
"But you could be doing something Important," I said.
"I am, " said Pooh.
"Oh? Doing what?"
"Listening," he said.
"Listening to what?"
"To the birds. And that squirrel over there."
"What are they saying?" I asked.
"That it's a nice day," said Pooh.
"But you know that already," I said.
"Yes, but it's always good to hear that somebody else thinks so, too," he replied..

Stop and take time to listen today! It's a beautiful day!
