Mastering Wees and Poos
Continence Programs for Kids and Adolescents (4-18yrs)!

Is your child having trouble mastering wees and poos?
Our specialised Continence Behavioural Programs, run by trained and experienced occupational therapists, are here to help!

👩‍⚕️ Who can benefit?

GPs: Refer your patients for expert support if they are struggling to achieve expected toileting milestones. We work closely with other specialists to support incontinence, manage constipation, and develop independence with toileting skills.

Early Learning Centres: Partner with us to support your children.

Parents: If your child is struggling with bowel and bladder continence, including night-time wetting, day-time wee or poo accidents, reluctance/avoidance of toilet sitting, or constipation, we’re here for you.

Schools: Collaborate with us to assist students in need.

🧑‍⚕️ The Role of Occupational Therapists:
OT's play a crucial role in developing toileting skills by providing personalised strategies and support tailored to each child's needs. We work closely with families to assess and develop self care and hygiene skills, creating effective routines and building confidence in children.

Our programs are designed to provide personalized strategies and support to help children achieve continence success. Let's work together to make a positive difference in their lives!

Our awesome OT’s Kelly and Courtney recently attend the ADHD Conference in Perth earlier this term, hosted by ADHD WA.

The conference hosted a range of experts, including paediatricians, psychiatrists, GPs, OTs, speech therapists, psychologists and ADHD Coaches, who presented informative sessions to spread awareness, advocacy and knowledge about ADHD.

ADHD is a neurodevelopmental condition that affects around 6% of the national population. This condition is characterised by the presence of one or more of the following: inattention (or reduced ability to direct attention appropriately), impulsivity and hyperactivity.

At Freshwater Therapy Services, we are passionate about supporting young people and their families through:
• educating and upskilling the team around the child - a greater understanding can make a world of difference.
• exploring sensory preferences and regulation tools.
• addressing co-existing barriers to engagement such as motor skills or social skills.
• empowering the child or teen to explore and understand their own learning strengths and tools for tackling daily tasks.

If you would like to discuss how OT can support your young person, please reach out to us at admin@freshwatertherapy.com.au or 9747 6006.

Taking your kid to an Autism assessment?
Let them know what’s going on.

It’s not a scary thing figuring out what kind of brain you have.
And it makes a lot of sense to do it.
How else would you know how to take care of it?

Start the conversation on the right foot.

Being Autistic is fine.
Being confused, isolated, and thinking you’re broken is not.

Yes?

Have you heard of the Sunflower Lanyard by Hidden Disabilities...?

"Some disabilities, conditions or chronic illnesses are not immediately obvious to others. For some people, this can make it hard to understand and believe that someone, with a “non-visible” condition genuinely needs support. Some people question whether you have a disability because you don’t look ‘like you have a disability".

That is why we created the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower - to encourage inclusivity, acceptance and understanding.

It is a simple tool for you to share that you have a hidden disability voluntarily. Simply by wearing the Sunflower, you’re just letting everyone know that you might need extra help, understanding, or just more time."

We are hosting two new workshops for kids that would benefit from a little extra support to engage in some crafty fun with some friends on the next school holidays.

"I Spy with my Little Eye"

In this exciting session, children will craft their very own "I Spy" bottle - a fantastic sensory regulation tool. This hands-on activity is designed to help kids develop fine and visual motor skills and promote sensory and emotional regulation.

"Slime Crime"

In this dynamic session, children will get their hands messy making their very own slime. This sensory-rich activity is designed to help kids develop fine motor skills, enhance sensory processing, and promote creativity.

Our experienced OT's will guide kids through the process, ensuring a fun and supportive environment. Plus, they’ll get to take home their personalized "I Spy Bottle" or their unique slime creations to use whenever they need a sensory break!

Our OT School Holiday Group is the perfect place for kids to learn, play, and connect! 🌈

Check out the next couple of posts for details. Registrations essential!

Do you home school your children? Are you looking for a way to connect with other home schooling families in the area to find out what groups and activities are available?

Freshwater Therapy currently works with a number of families that are new to home schooling/home learning.

We hear about all of these AMAZING groups and activities that are offered in our beautiful town and thought we would host a networking opportunity to connect these families with others.
This event is open to ALL families - you don't need to be a client 😉.

Whether you are thinking of home schooling, new or experienced and anywhere in between, come have a cuppa, chat, and share some ideas.
