I’m finding it hard to put into words what transpired over the last seven days.

We came together from all parts of Australia, to deep dive into yin yoga, a style of yoga that is so subtle yet so powerful. We gathered around the elements whilst Katie helped imprint and ritualise Chinese Medicine. We danced and watched in awe as Fran made anatomy not only digestible, but like an adventure you never want to end! We meditated. Heavily meditated. We connected through yin, cacao, polyvagal theory, cliterations, gua sha, didgeridoo and soo much more.

I couldn’t ask for 2 more nerdy, passionate, kind and supportive wing women to hold my hand through it all. Forever in awe of Katie & Fran.

To this round of yin trainees, like a proud mother hen, I couldn’t be more comfortable and confident to see you go forth and spread the love of yin!! Thank you for letting us be a part of your journey.

There’s also a few special people who help me, make this possible. I wouldn’t be able to give my all without the support of my husband & mum holding the fort at home. Without a studio angel by the name of Jaz. A social media queen by the name of Maida. A neighbour beyond kind and generous to allow us to use her room, Andrea. And all our karma cleaners for keeping the space extra sparkling ✨

Signing off for now, happy happy tired, and ready for some rest, but also, thankfully, so excited to be back on Monday to share yin!

The power of perspective ✨
Through practice, we learn that reality isn’t fixed. It shifts with the lens we choose to see through.

A challenge becomes a teacher.
A setback becomes redirection.
A closed door becomes protection.

Perspective isn’t passive — it’s a conscious practice.

When we release rigid labels of “good” and “bad,” we discover possibility. Growth. Wisdom.
This isn’t spiritual bypassing. It’s emotional maturity — the courage to sit with what is and ask: What is this here to show me?

THE WOOD ELEMENT | SPRING SEASON

In Traditional Chinese Medicine, Wood relates to growth, direction and purpose. Just like a tree pushes through the soil toward the sun, Wood energy helps us move forward in life — with vision and action.

ORGANS: Liver + Gallbladder

Liver = The General → plans, strategises, makes decisions

Gallbladder = The Executor → takes action, initiates movement

When Wood is balanced: we feel clear, hopeful, decisive, courageous.
When Wood is out of balance: frustration builds, anger rises, resentment gets stuck.

Wood energy gives us capacity to dream + capacity to DO. Without it, we stay stagnant. With too much of it, we become explosive. The key is flow.

A Swell Story

The idea to birth Swell Yoga Studio in Margaret River came after many years of experiencing world class yoga teachers on the east coast of Australia and overseas. After many day dreams, and years of travel, the Founders decided to settle some roots in the small coastal town of Margs, and to bring all they had discovered from years of adventure, to the Southwest WA.
