Recently I had the privilege of holding space for a group of women on a respite retreat - taking a quiet moment to simply BE with the herd.
No expectations, no pressure - just authentic presence, observation and connection.

Like horses we are wired for connection - to be seen, heard and supported. If you're finding things hard right now, please reach out. You do not have to go at it alone.

Grateful to witness the quiet power of these moments.

After so much wet weather, there was an extra spring in my step today with the sun out! I won't say I skipped with the horses (the ground was still pretty wet!) but we did have some great horse time.
To keep the boys safe for all those that come for equine facilitation sessions and to keep them stimulated in different ways, the days I train with them are important. Today it was a bit of float loading for Sebastian and Mystic was strengthening his self carriage in a clam centred way.

And then back to fresh green paddocks for more eating to rest and hang with their herd.

The photo in the background is that of my daughter and Forest. I chose it because I love watching young children with horses. There is an innocence and in that innocence no judgement, just pure love.
Horses have no judgement. Only acceptance and a desire to be in the moment.
Where do you feel acceptance? And when you feel judgement either towards yourself or towards others, can you take a moment and breathe acceptance into it?

What Mystic has to say about me off doing some more professional development:

“Apparently she’s learning how to ‘listen better.’ Good — I’ve been saying things loud enough!"

Seriously though, we can never stop learning and growing. Horses have pushed me well beyond my comfort zones and I am truly grateful for that. Following on from expanding into offering equine bodywork, I have been building my toolkit with the wonderful techniques of Emmett and will be with next weekend to increase my skills.
I hope in listening to the body and what it has to say will allow me to assist our equine companions as much as I have been able to help humans.

I’m not supposed to have favourites but…One of my favourite clients came back to spend some time with the herd. Not only is it an honour and a privilege to be a part of each of your clients’ journeys, it is even more special when they become your friends.

I think even Sebastian considers you one of his favourites!! We won’t say anything about Mystic and a certain piece of your electric wheelchair though will we??

Last term, One Herd was lucky for the opportunity to partner up with our local Montessori Adolescent Program -@ mrms_adolescent_program - and offer a 6 week equine facilitation program.
Through hands-on work with the horses, students developed greater self-awareness, clear communication, boundary setting and confidence — all while engaging in meaningful connection with their natural environment.

“The hands are the instruments of man’s intelligence.” – Maria Montessori

It really was a lot of hands on fun!

Mystic here... Well, that was a first...
Apparently, my plop was in high demand at a local school fundraiser ! 🎟️💩
I was the official four-legged guest of honor for the Pony Plop Lotto, where humans marked out a field and waited to see where I’d do my business. Strange hobby… but hey, if it raises money for a good cause, I’m happy to oblige. 😎
Lots of pats, a few laughs, and yes — a very exciting moment when nature finally called. You're welcome, humans. You're welcome.

Empower Inspire Connect

Through the authentic connection that happens with a horse, individuals develop respect, trust and a true sense of empowerment. In the space of the horse, there is no judgement, there is no past and future only the present moment. What we think, feel and act in that moment the horse responds to immediately. This provides a great space for learning in a safe way who we are responsible for. This then transfers through into the human world.

As individuals learn about working with the horses, awareness of their relationship with self and others develops. A deeper understanding of how horses communicate and the herd dynamic provides insights into interpersonal relationships and heart based communication

One Herd supports participants in their individual needs for learning and goal setting in a mindful way. Suitable for all ages, carefully designed interactive exercises are employed to create connection, safe boundaries, being present and aware within our physical bodies.
