There are two types of people in this world: people who pick their nose and people who lie about it. 🫢 👃
Now we've got that out of the way, let's talk about what's really happening when you jam your fingers in your snoot. Cause let's be real, we know you do. 👀
Your nose contains cells that produce mucus (aka snot) that helps trap viruses, bacteria and dust before it enters your airways.
Essentially, snot is the MVP of your nose, working hard to reduce your risk of illness, inflammation and asthma.
When you pick your nose, you risk:
☝️ spreading the illness-causing germs that are stuck in your snot
☝️ pushing germs that are already stuck in your nose further into your body
☝️ leaving tiny cuts in your nasal tissue, which bacteria can get into and cause infection
☝️ damaging the delicate blood vessels in your nose, which can cause nose bleeds.
Already picked it, now what? Lower your fingers from your mouth, for starters. 🤮
Use a tissue to wipe up your boogers and be sure to wash your hands with soap and water after. This helps to remove any germs that might be lingering on your hands and fingers.
