‼️ Calling out to Wide Bay residents, with the region now included in Queensland Health’s measles alert. More details in the update below.

⚠️ Measles alert for Brisbane, Gold Coast and Wide Bay. ⚠️

There have been three cases of measles in people who attended the Jelly Roll concert at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre on Friday, 24 October 2025.

These individuals also spent time in a number of locations in the Gold Coast, Brisbane, and Wide Bay areas while unknowingly contagious. If you attended the Jelly Roll concert on Friday, 24 October, please be alert for any measles symptoms.

There have also been two other measles case confirmed in Central Queensland and the West Moreton regions this week, unrelated to this concert.

The list of exposure sites and times is being regularly updated. For a full list of exposure locations, visit: https://www.health.qld.gov.au/newsroom/alerts

Members of the public who were in these areas, on these dates, need to be alert for symptoms of measles for up to three weeks from the exposure date.

The initial symptoms can include fever, lethargy, runny nose, moist cough and sore red eyes. This is followed a few days later by a blotchy, red rash which often starts on the face and then becomes widespread over the body.

If you have any of the measles symptoms, contact your GP or ED. It is very important to call the medical practice or ED first if you think you might have measles, so that staff can take precautions to avoid spreading it to others.

For more information about the measles virus call 13 HEALTH (13 43 25 84).

That’s a wrap for Clinical Societies 2025! Our final round in Central Queensland brought together health professionals and community advocates in Emerald, Rockhampton, Gladstone and Biloela for meaningful conversations on dementia care — from early recognition and prevention to local innovation and community support.

These sessions highlighted the power of collaboration in action. Clinicians, aged care teams and community partners explored how working together across disciplines can improve outcomes, even in places where resources are limited.

A special mention to the Biloela community, who hosted their first Satellite Society and showed what’s possible when local leadership and collaboration come together.

Thank you to everyone who joined us across Central Queensland, and to the speakers and panellists who shared their time and expertise so generously.

As this year’s Clinical Societies wraps up, we’re proud to have connected hundreds of professionals from the Sunshine Coast through to the Central Highlands — building stronger, more connected care for people living with dementia, their families and carers.

And we’re not stopping here. While travelling the region, we asked you which topics need attention and action. The result? 2026 Clinical Societies is shaping up to be our most impactful yet — with strong themes, practical sessions and a focus on immediate application in local settings.

👉 Follow Country to Coast Queensland (CCQ) to be first to hear when 2026 Clinical Societies topics and registrations go live.

Clinical Societies are delivered by Country to Coast Queensland (CCQ) through the Australian Government Department of Health, Disability and Ageing’s PHN Program.

Clinical Societies made their way through Wide Bay last week and what a turnout it was.

From Bundaberg to Hervey Bay and across the Fraser Coast, clinical specialists and community advocates came together to share knowledge, swap experiences and talk honestly about the realities of dementia care and early detection and intervention.

Thank you to everyone who came along and added your voice to the discussion. And a big thanks to the speakers and panellists who helped guide each session.

As we make our way across the region, we’re now heading into the final stretch of this round with events across Gympie, Sunshine Coast and Central Queensland, including Emerald, Rockhampton/ Livingstone, Gladstone and Biloela. There are still a few final tickets available — don’t miss your chance to be part of the conversation.

Sunshine Coast came in strong to launch the first leg in our final round of 2025 Clinical Societies. The topic, Turning the Tide on Dementia, drew a big turnout from local GPs, nurses, allied health and aged care teams at events last week in Noosa, Nambour and Caloundra.

These sessions are all about connection, coming together to share knowledge, spark ideas, and strengthen care for people living with dementia, their carers and families.

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us on the Sunshine Coast and helped set the tone for this round. Special thanks to our wonderful speakers and panellists.

Now we’re heading north, with Wide Bay up next — kicking off in Bundaberg tomorrow from 5:30 pm!

On Saturday 25 October, the University of the Sunshine Coast Stadium came alive with community spirit, connection and care.

Thank you to North Coast Aboriginal Corporation for Community Health (Manngoor Dja) for hosting this community health event.

From health checks and information stalls to activities and yarns, every moment reflected this year’s theme — “Carrying on the Legacy, Now We Lead.”

And also thanks to the Country to Coast Queensland team who joined in the day to yarn about My Health Record and our commitment to strong partnerships and community connections.
