My TOP TIP for planning a funeral

Funeral planning can be overwhelming as you wade through your feelings of grief, decision making can feel impossible and then the lack of sleep or the inertia sets in…

Give yourself time to process a different reality.

What happens when a bunch of death curious individuals get together and talk about estate planning…

💛 Choose your executor wisely

💛 There are provisions if your chosen charity is no longer around at the time of your death

💛 How your will can be contested

💛 Dependents need to be accounted for

💛 Include instructions for your pets (and, no you can’t leave money to your pet) 🐾

It’s a big and complex topic.

This is your not so gentle reminder… prepare your legally binding end of life documentation.

Caring, empathic, patient and kind.

These are the words my year 9 teacher used to describe me as she told me I should consider a career as a Funeral Director.

I have never forgotten that conversation and it simmered away in the background for years.

My career took me to many places and I eventually found myself where I needed to be… right here in the death and dying space as she predicted… practising as a Funeral Director, Funeral Celebrant and passionate End of Life Educator and Doula.

I’m so grateful to work in this space.

After returning home yesterday from our epic six week adventure in Europe, I have been reminded to do all of the things ☀️

Don’t wait, life is short. Unexpected things can happen 😞

Cuddle your pets, children, family and friends often 🐾❤️

SAVE this post as a reminder to do all of things you’ve wanted to do but let work, family, the expectations of others or yourself get in the way 🌸

Our recent holiday to Europe ticked off a few bucket list items, these are a few from Germany 🇩🇪

🏰 Visted Schloss Neuschwanstein
💕 Spent time with my sweet nieces
🎄 Shopped for the most amazing Christmas decorations in Rothenburg (yes, I needed an extra suitcase to bring them home)

I’d love to know, what’s on your life bucket list?

Recently my husband and I were talking about what our epitaph would say…

And the photo above demonstrates so clearly why I would say these words on his headstone….

“You are very rude and you don’t listen… but I loved him anyway!”

I asked him to take a photo of me with these cute ice creams… the result, photo one 🍦

His defence “you told me to take a photo of the ice creams”

Um, nope. ME with the ice creams 😂🍦

We got there in the end, see pic two

For the record, he said my epitaph would read “Bec could be difficult, but her redeeming feature was loving me!” ❤️

If you were to write a frivolous epitaph for your person, what would it say?

I had a chat with my mum recently and she informed me of the really sad news that one of her closest friends cancer has spread and another friend’s daughter has been diagnosed with breast cancer.

This kind of news sucks… at any age.

I reminded her it’s never too early to speak with an End of Life Doula. They can help when things feel overwhelming at the beginning of whatever the future may look like.

If you need support, I’m here for you. I have a rock solid group of Doula’s to hold you during the tough times and to share in the brighter moments too.

SHARE this post with anyone who may benefit for the support of a Doula 💖
