Trusted for over 30 years, we provide therapies and support for children aged birth to 8 years with a disability or developmental delay and their families. Plumtree is a not-for-profit organisation that provides support for young children ages birth to 8 years old with a developmental delay or disability and their families. We help children to grow and develop, reach their potential and participate in the community. Drawing on our years of experience and broad expertise, we provide education, therapy, information and training in a variety of settings—mostly in the home, and also at the child’s preschool, child care centre or school, and our Marrickville centre. We provide practical services and support to children and their families, helping them to enjoy the time they spend together and to discover everyday learning opportunities. Plumtree operates on Eora Nation. We acknowledge the Gadigal-Wangal people as the traditional custodians of this Land. We pay our respect to the Elders past, present and emerging for they hold the memories, the culture and hopes of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people across the nation.

HAVE YOUR SAY

Researchers at the University of Sydney are looking to learn more about how mums in Australia spend their time each day. They’re especially interested in the experiences of mums who were born here or overseas, and those raising children with or without disability. Your voice can help build a clearer picture of what daily life really looks like for families across Australia.

Starting 10 December 2025, new rules will mean young people under 16 won’t be able to hold an account on many social-media platforms (this may include Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, TikTok, X and YouTube). Even if your child is still little, these changes are a good reminder to think ahead about online safety, healthy digital habits and how we can support our children as they grow.

The article below breaks down what the changes involve, why they’re being introduced and how families can navigate this space with confidence.

One week ago, we held the Family Conference with Families

When families raising children with disability come together, something truly special unfolds. The day centred on connection.

Families shared their stories.
Learnt from professionals and from each other.
And found support in the kind of understanding that only comes from shared experience.

We’re grateful to everyone who joined us and helped make the day meaningful.
To our guest speakers ASK Counselling and Spot Therapy Hub.
And to all the families who took part.

Days like this remind us that no family should walk this journey alone, especially when so much strength and learning come from gathering together.
