Todayโs photos say it allโsmiles, stories, and spoons diving into a good old Aussie classic: pavlova. For our residents, dining is about much more than nutrition. Itโs connection, dignity, and joy on a plate.
Weโve been intentionally rethinking the dining experience to make every mealtime meaningful. Hereโs whatโs working:
Resident-led menus: Co-designing seasonal menus with residents, including cultural favourites and nostalgic classics like pavlova.
Choice, always: Flexible portions, textures, and timingโbecause independence and appetite go hand in hand.
Homestyle presentation: Shared platters, fresh herbs, and familiar crockery to make it feel like home, not a facility.
Sensory-friendly spaces: Warm lighting, comfortable acoustics, and mealtime music to set a calm, social atmosphere.
Trained teams: Upskilling staff in dignity in dining, texture-modified excellence, and person-centred service.
If youโre working in aged care, whatโs one small dining change thatโs made a big difference in your home?
