Bowen "moves" gently "disturb" the fascia & launch incredible healing forces in the body 🥰

Once upon a time, fascia was severely underestimated.

Previously thought of as basically just packing material, protecting our more important structures, it's now known that fascia plays a vital role in movement, immune function, and is our largest bodily organ, with the greatest capacity for sensation.

A wonderful statement in support of Craniosacral Therapy by HRH King Charles, given to our 3rd Breath of Life Conference in London in 2005. Here is his full statement:
"I am delighted to support this third Breath of Life Conference on approaches to holistic health. As many of you will know, I have for many years been pursuing a vision of a truly integrated healthcare system in the UK, one which brings together the best of conventional, complementary and alternative approaches. As part of this whole person approach, I am particularly keen to see a more holistic and spiritual dimension brought into mainstream healthcare.
Through the work of my Foundation for Integrated Health, we have made great strides in making complementary and alternative medicine more acceptable and available to the general public, but I am well aware that there still is a long way to go before we achieve a properly regulated system in this country.
There is no doubt that work such as yours is vital to the health and well-being of our society which is, now more than ever, so desperately in need of mental, physical and spiritual sustenance. I am convinced that your work with babies and young children, in particular, is crucial in helping to avoid the suffering of future generations by healing imbalances so early in the young lives of individuals.
I was heartened to hear that the Craniosacral Therapy community has embraced the drive towards self-regulation of the profession, with the help and support of my Foundation – a necessity if complementary therapies such as yours are to be taken seriously in the future. I have also noted the progress of the Cranial Forum, over the last few years, as it has moved towards creating a strong and cohesive group that will act as a single regulatory body for this invaluable work.
I wish you every success with this conference, and I hope that it will provide a valuable and fruitful forum for discussion and education for you all in your various professions within the healing arts."

14 THINGS I HAVE LEARNT ON MY JOURNEY

I was diagnosed with Stage 4 Parkinson’s (UPDRS 127) and Early-Stage Multisystem Atrophy in 1995 at 52 years of age.
I pursued many avenues for healing - conservative, radical and outright adventurous.
By mid-1998, I was free from symptoms and remain so to this day, nearing my 80th birthday.
Am I “cured”? No, there is no “cure” and never will be – but that is a discussion for another time.
I am free from symptoms (recovered) while I choose to live a life of health and interest. If I revert to old, unhealthy habits, I tend to develop a tremor as a warning.
This is not a restrictive or boring life - far from it – it is interesting with plenty of great activity, tasty food and even treats.
My journey from collapse to wellness was long, hard and fraught with pitfalls. Many people from all walks of life helped and supported me but, in the end, it was my choice and my responsibility to become well; to recover.
Here are a few of the lessons I learnt along the way.

1. Neurologists are clever people who are trained to treat disease, but have little knowledge of or interest in wellness.

2. I was told that we don’t know what causes Parkinson’s but, once I found out what really does cause Parkinson’s, I was able to find MY causes and get well.

3. The causes of my Parkinson’s symptoms were a combination of things done to me and things I had done to myself.

4. I was told that there were medicines to “keep (me) comfortable as long as possible”, but the effective time seemed to be limited to 5 years or so, and adverse effects declared by manufacturers were not something I welcomed.

5. There is no “cure” and never will be. But we CAN get well.

6. When an “expert” tells me I can never be well, that really means that they have never seen anyone get well and they don’t know how to help them get well. That doesn’t mean it can’t be done.

7. I realised that no one could do it for me. If I was to get well, I had to do it myself. Certainty with advice and support from skilled and caring practitioners, but I had to do the work.

8. Just because there was no record of recovery from Parkinson’s in conservative literature, it did not mean it had never happened or could not happen again.

9. I thought my neurologists would be eager to learn about my remarkable recovery, but they did not want to see me nor receive any correspondence from me.

10. Recovery is harder than “accepting the inevitable” but the rewards are enormous.

11. My health improved when I avoided the “naysayers” (those who insisted that I should listen to and obey western medical doctors only) and mixed with those who supported my right to make decisions about my health.

12. I thought most doctors would push me to take meds and “accept my fate”, but I worked with several (in hospital operating theatres) who encouraged me to pursue my adventures because, in their words, “the medication won’t do you any good”.

13. I needed my journal. When my quest for wellness seemed hopeless and I wanted to give up, the notes in my journal always gave me clues about my progress, so I was encouraged to keep on getting well.

14. If I love myself enough, I can achieve objectives considered impossible, like recovering from Parkinson’s.

These are just fourteen of the things I have learnt on my journey from Parkinson’s to wellness. There are many others in “Shaky Past” and “Rethinking Parkinson’s Disease” available on Amazon.

Are you aware that Bowen Technique can help our big & small animals, too?
According to Mr. Tom Bowen's secretary's review in 2000 First Bowen World Conference, farmers brought their cows, dogs etc to Mr Bowen to treat on Sundays.
Here are some photos to show how our four-legged friends enjoyed being treated at a Canine Bowen Workshop.

You might observe how relaxed our little friends were after such gentle treatment 🐶🐕🦮🐕‍🦺🐩💝

ABOUT ME
Everyone has a story to tell how Bowen Therapy has changed their life. Its time to share mine. I remember Ossie and Elaine RENTSCH (the Principals of Bowen Academy of Australia) always say to students 'Bowen has found you'.

I began my initial working career after High School as a full time NSW Police Officer for a period of 23 years.

Over the years alot of my clients have asked me how I became a Bowen Therapist and I never expressed that officially until I got reminded last weekend by my high school friend and now a successful Bowen Therapist himself Don COOMBES DC Bowen Therapy Mudgee

In June 2007 my life has changed forever. I was driving my 4 year old daughter to local pre school (2 days before her 5th birthday) in the morning when another car collided into the rear of my car at high speed and instantaneously caused fatal injury to my daughter. This impact forcefully shifted my car onto the incorrect side of the roadway where my car received another side impact.

As a result, I received massive injuries to my entire spine and initally thought by doctors to be spinal cord injury but fortunately it was 7 protruding discs at once and torn ligaments in my knee.

Despite all of the physical injuries and crippling pain and possible surgeries, the biggest injury was the grieving process of losing my daughter and the impact it had on my family.

After few weeks of suffering with these debilitating injuries I came across a very understanding, loving and compassionate female Bowen Therapist who offered me 6 treatments as her way of helping me go through this difficult period. Just like everyone else, I had no idea what this Therapy was about but I had nothing to lose and only to try something different to help my body in the injury recovery process.

WOW....after 6 weeks of treatments I would never believe that such a simplistic, gentle and deeply relaxing modality created such an impact of recovery that facilitated such a deep healing process on physical and emotional levels by grounding me emotionally and balancing the Nervous System to return to life. I did not have the need to do any surgery.

Within 3 months of my accident I was back at Policing and began my studies in becoming a Bowen Therapist. That journey began in 2008 which then followed to a Diploma and numerous other Bowen Specialised Chronic Conditions Courses over the past 15 years of practice now.

As such, the traumatic experience me and my family endured has shaped the Therapist I am today. Having first hand experience in surviving trauma and being able to regain my well-being and quality of life, I can only be so grateful that Bowen Therapy exists.

We have been given a gift by Mr Tom BOWEN who developed this Modality with an understanding of the body's innate intelligence. Bowen work initiates the natural self healing response in the body by prompting the body to let go of tension. It's all about the body doing all the work by facilitating and providing an optimum safe healing environment for repair and recovery to take place which often due to Trauma, Injuries and both Internal and External Stresses that repair process has been halted.

In 2013 I officially retired from Policing in order to dedicate my life to Bowen work full time to help others ease suffering from understanding now how TRAUMA, STRESS and Postural imbalances negates our bodies in achieving full potential in well- being, addressing pain and returning to health and balance.

I am blessed, privileged and honoured to have this experience in witnessing daily Miracles through my personalised approach to treatments and an opportunity to make a difference. The Business name....Bowen Therapy - 'LITTLE ANGEL' has been created in memory of my daughter.

Caught up with my wonderful teacher Anne Schubert 💐

Anne taught me the Bowen Technique back in 1996! She was a great instructor & I am forever grateful that I got accredited through her teaching, as a practitioner & subsequently became an instructor myself.

Apart from the skills, Anne inspires me with her passion & dedication to learn & research. She is open minded & is willing to explore. Many years ago, Anne also taught me the Mind, Body Bowen, that expands a whole new horizon for healing. With minimal Bowen moves on the body, we could initiate a wave of innate healing that the body is capable of. From babies to very senior, Bowen Technique assists the body to heal itself with profound effects.

At the age of 82 years young now, Anne met me this morning after her 7.30 am catching 3 waves in the ocean ritual. She is very fit & I can see this lady will still teach & treat people well into her 100s.

I love Anne & I am so thrilled to see her again in Forster today xo
