Day 2 of Inclusion at Work Week!
Today, we hear from Maz Fenwick, our National Employment Engagement Manager at EmployAbility, as she tackles a powerful question:
“How can leaders move from awareness to accountability in disability inclusion?”
Maz brings deep insight and practical advice, reminding us that inclusion isn’t just a value, it’s a responsibility.
If you’re a leader, manager, or changemaker, this one’s for you. Let’s move beyond good intentions and into meaningful action.

Inclusion at Work Week starts now!
We’re kicking things off with Declan, a brilliant member of our team, who shares his thoughts on one of the most common misconceptions about disability in the workplace.
Declan lives with cerebral palsy and brings both lived experience and leadership to the conversation. His insight? Eye-opening, honest, and a great reminder of why inclusion matters every day.
Watch the clip, reflect, and share your thoughts: What misconceptions have you seen or experienced?

Coming next week: Inclusion at Work Week!
We asked EmployAbility’s Building Employer Confidence (BEC) team some big (and some cheeky) questions about inclusion, accessibility, and what it really means to show up at work as your whole self.

Their answers? Honest. Insightful. Occasionally hilarious.

Starting Monday, we’ll be sharing short clips all week long, perfect for a coffee break scroll or a lunchtime laugh.

Whether you're curious, passionate, or just love seeing your colleagues on camera, you won’t want to miss it.

Set a reminder, follow along, and join the conversation, right here on Facebook!

EmployAbility would like to know, does your workplace offer an Inclusion Welcome Statement at the start of your meetings and/or events?

Responsed with a:
* Yes
* No
* What is an “Inclusion Welcome Statement”?

An Inclusion Welcome statement is part of the commitment to an organisations D&I practice. If you have been watching the show ‘The Assembly’ on ABC Australia, you may have noticed the students reading out the welcome before each interview.

At EmployAbility, we always include our statement during meetings, so staff (over 75% of whom have a physical disability) and clients know they can relax into a welcoming and valued environment.

🌻 Invisible Disabilities Week | Oct 19–25 🌻
This week, we're shining a light on the disabilities you can’t always see.

EmployAbility and SCIA are proud charity members of the Sunflower Hidden Disabilities initiative, helping create more inclusive spaces for everyone.

Did you know that some physical disabilities aren’t immediately visible? They still deserve empathy, understanding, and support.

Can you name a few invisible disabilities? Drop them in the comments.

Let’s raise awareness together.

Fantastic article from Diversity Council Australia (DCA) for National Carers Week this week October 12-18th.

Based on our recent internal staff survey at Spinal Cord Injuries Australia (EmployAbility is a service provided by SCIA), we know that 31% of our employees provide regular care to a person with a disability, long term health conditions or age-related issues, and that 97% of employees value flexible working hours, remote working and part time or casual opportunities to be offered!

As the article so rightly points out, with 1 in 8 Australian's now in carer roles, it’s a timely reminder that creating carer-friendly workplaces is no longer optional but rather essential. If your workplace needs some help, contact us, we are experienced in getting the balance right. https://loom.ly/QgBNFaU

Elena Katrakis shares how organisations can build carer-friendly workplaces and why supporting carers is good for people and business.

In this episode of Have The Nerve, Forrest Campbell is back to talk about why the role of being inclusive should be the employers themselves.
