Today, we are deeply honoured to welcome Laxmi Thapa Bist into the Lewis Aid Skills Training family — not just as a Trainer and Assessor, but as someone whose heart, values, and spirit truly reflect who we are.

Laxmi’s journey as a Registered Nurse has taken her through hospitals, aged care homes, community spaces, and countless lives she has touched with her quiet strength and gentle compassion. From Nepal to Australia, her story is one of courage, dedication, and service — and it fills us with pride to have someone of her character join our team.

What stands out most about Laxmi is her heart for people.
She carries a deep connection to community, grounded in empathy and genuine care. Every train and tram in the state is now equipped with Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs).

AEDs are portable medical devices that deliver a life-saving shock in the event of a sudden cardiac arrest.

They’re designed so anyone can use them in an emergency – providing clear, step-by-step instructions.

The devices automatically analyse the heart's rhythm and will only deliver a shock if needed, making them safe, effective and simple – even for someone who has never used one before.

More than 1,100 AEDs will be installed across South Australia’s public transport system by the end of the year – as part of a broader statewide effort to improve access to these lifesaving devices.

When you call Triple Zero (000) in a cardiac emergency, the operator will direct you to the nearest available AED and guide you through the process until help arrives.

🚨 Nut Allergy Emergencies — Know What To Do! 🚨

A nut allergy can trigger a life-threatening reaction within minutes.
Here’s what to watch for and how to act fast 👇

⚠️ Signs of a Severe Allergic Reaction (Anaphylaxis):

Difficulty breathing or swallowing
Swelling of lips, tongue, or throat
Dizziness or collapse
Widespread hives or redness

💉 What To Do:
1️⃣ Use an EpiPen (Adrenaline Auto-Injector) immediately if available.
2️⃣ Call 000 for emergency help.
3️⃣ Lay the person flat — unless they are having trouble breathing, then sit them up.
4️⃣ Do NOT give food or drink.
5️⃣ If no improvement, give a second EpiPen after 5 minutes if available.
