🥊 The “Puffy” Knee
Noticed a trend in the gym lately? I’ve treated 3 athletes with the same injury this week.

🚩Here is the breakdown of what’s happening and how Myotherapy helps.
1️⃣ What is it? It is likely Suprapatellar Bursitis or Quadriceps Tendinopathy. This is often caused by repetitive impact (skipping, running) and tight quadriceps pulling on the knee structures. When the training load spikes, the knee gets inflamed.
2️⃣ How Myotherapy Helps We don’t just “rub the sore spot.” In fact, we avoid deep pressure on the swelling! Instead, we focus on: ✅ Releasing the Quads & Hips: Reducing the tension pulling on the knee. ✅ Lymphatic Drainage: Helping flush out the fluid and reduce swelling. ✅ Restoring Range of Motion: Getting that knee bending pain-free again.
3️⃣ Recovery & Training ❌ Stop: Skipping, running, and heavy sparring for a few days. ✅ Do: ICE immediately after training. ⏳ Timeline: Usually 1–3 weeks, depending on how well you rest!

🚩Here is the breakdown on when to book your session with MRL Massage & Myotherapy .

1. Post-Training (The Recovery Window) 📉

When: 24 to 48 hours after a high-intensity session.

Why: We wait for the initial inflammation to settle. This gives us the best chance to flush out metabolic waste and address micro-tears without causing you extra pain during the treatment.

2. Pre-Event (The Performance Window) ⚡

When: 3 to 5 days before a big match or heavy sparring.

Why: You want a “flush-out,” not a heavy beat-down. Getting deep tissue work the day before a fight can actually leave your muscles feeling “lethargic” or too relaxed, killing your explosive power.

3. The “Off Day” (The Repair Window) 🛌

When: On your scheduled rest day.

Why: This allows your nervous system to switch from “fight or flight” to “rest and digest.” This is the state where actual muscle repair happens.
